Grab the Look: Become a “Trouble Maker” this Valentine’s Day

Posted: 12 Feb 2012 07:13 AM PST

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, this edition of ‘Grab the Look‘ was inspired by one of K-Pop’s hottest on-stage couples, Trouble Maker!

Cube Entertainment‘s sexy duo — comprised of B2ST‘s Hyunseung and 4minute‘s HyunA — galvanized the K-Pop community with their sizzling choreography and music video. Trouble Maker’s modern spin on secret agent films from the 1960s can also be found in their fashion, which combines classic lines with contemporary patterns.

Hyunseung presented a classic silhouette with his tuxedo jacket, but made it trendy by choosing a bold animal print. To make this easier to wear, go with a less formal silhouette (such as a blazer) and select prints with colors that are more toned down (such as navy blue or black). Doing this also makes the jacket more of a wardrobe staple than a once-in-a-blue-moon piece.

The jacket can be dressed up with a light colored shirt and dark jeans, or dressed down with a graphic tee and sneakers. Finish the outfit with a cool belt buckle to add personality and a great pair of shoes that can go with anything.

Hyunseung’s partner, HyunA, wore a matching animal print in a sexy and seductive shape. Bold and vibrant, this dress can only be worn on special occasions, but it’ll be totally worth it since jaws will drop.

Find a great jacket to cover up the dress when travelling. You should look for a piece with strong construction and architectural lines, but is fitted to help bring out that feminine silhouette and show off the waistline. A cute heart wristlet will keep all your things close at hand while playing with the holiday theme.

Finally, add a fiery pop with red pumps to seal the deal. These are also a great wardrobe builder since they can be paired with other dresses and skirts, or dressed down with jeans.

Valentine’s Day is all about couples, so we’ve got some tips on how to wear ‘couple outfits’.

The ”Trouble Maker” video gives great insight on how to wear couple outfits — the ensembles all play with similar patterns, but are used in different ways to avoid a look that’s ‘matchy matchy’. The key to wearing couple outfits on today’s streets is to keep it subtle and let the details do the talking. Try wearing similar patterns or colors in different parts of the outfit, such as shoes or accessories.

And if you’re single this Valentine’s Day? Follow this style guideline and you definitely won’t be! (Although we hope your date will turn out better than HyunA and Hyunseung’s in the music video).

Happy Valentine’s Day!

‘Gag King’ contestant’s tragic story causes MC Park Mi Sun to cry

Posted: 12 Feb 2012 05:08 AM PST

We previously reported that SBS‘s ’Star King‘ would be holding auditions for ‘Gag King, a special competition on the show aiming to find the nation’s next big comedian. One of the contestants, Lim Sung Hoon, managed to make MC Park Mi Sun cry, but not in the way everyone expected.

Lim Sung Hoon is a former SBS comedian who decided to return to the spotlight for a very special purpose.

Lim Sung Hoon shared that he lost his younger sister last year. She was pronounced brain dead, and his family was forced to pull her life support due to their difficult financial situation. Lim Sung Hoon signed his sister’s ‘organ donor’ consent form on her behalf, and since then, he’s been living with the guilt of letting his sister go.

As such, he’s made the difficult decision to try and compete on ‘Gag King’ to offer some laughter and smiles to his grieving family.

MC Park Misun teared up as he related his story, and said that she could relate. “When my father was passing away, it became too heartbreaking to see him suffer in pain for so long, so I agreed to take him off life support,” she shared.

Your sister has done a wonderful thing, offering life to so many others by being an organ donor,” Park Mi Sun said as she wiped away her tears.

INFINITE successfully concludes their first solo concert

Posted: 11 Feb 2012 10:39 PM PST

The rising stars of Hallyu, INFINITE, finally held their first solo concert at Seoul Olympic Park on February 11th.

The concert, titled ‘Second Invasion’, saw the boys show off all they had to offer to a sold out stadium that consisted of fans from not only Korea, but overseas as well.

As reported earlier, this concert was sold out within minutes of tickets going on sale. Despite not being able to obtain a ticket, overseas fans flew in to still partake in the experience. They were seen hanging around the venue throughout the concert, and one fan revealed, “We came so that we could at least listen to the sounds.”

The concert kicked off with old favorites like “Come Back Again” and “Hysterie”. The members then greeted the fans, stating, “We are so thankful that so many of you came to our first solo concert… Please enjoy the concert up to the very last minute.”

To better engage with their fans, the members used the passageway between the stage platforms as they performed their hearts out, and stirred the crowd into a frenzied state with their perfectly synchronized choreography.

In addition to their popular songs, the members also brought out tracks that haven’t been as widely promoted, such as “Tic Toc”, “Wings”, and “Fixed Star”.

INFINITE also brought out their individual stages. L and Sungjong teamed up for a remake of “That I’ve Lived Next To You” with L crooning to the audience in his mellow voice as Sungjong accompanied him on the piano; leader Sunggyu brought out his solo track, “Because”Dongwoo and Hoya, the hip hop line of the group or ‘INFINITE H’, brought out their swag with “Crying” and “You Look Well”; followed by Woohyun who gave an emotional performance of “Time” .

Although each member impressed the crowd, the most shocking or hilarious performance of the night came from Sungjong and Sungyeol with their rendition of “Trouble Maker”. Fans expected to see Sungjong dress up as HyunA, but it was actually Sungyeol who tranformed into a “sexy girl” with his long wig and a short red dress. Sungjong took on Hyunseung‘s role and displayed his more masculine side.

During the second half of the performance, the members belted out their latest hits. Singing “White Confession (Lately)”, the members tossed Valentine’s Day presents into the crowd, and teased, “In addition to the present we’ve handed out today, we have another Valentine’s Day present for you… We can’t reveal it yet, but you’ll all know on the 14th.”

When “Be Mine” came on, fans were heard loudly chanting in unison to the rhythm of the song – making it a moment where the artist and audience became one.

As the concert came to a close, tears were seen in the members’ eyes as they said their last comments. Seeing the members tear up, the audience shouted “Don’t cry.”

The members expressed, “This was such a happy and heart-fluttering time. We hope you will continue to cheer us on.” They made the fans laugh as they warned, “Don’t cheat on us until we come back.”

“We will try harder in the future and show you a group that has grown,” said the group as they launched into the encore songs “Julia” and “Voice of My Heart”.

In addition to all the performances, the boys also shared a special treat with the fans who attended the concert. The footage showed the members teaming up as couples to participate in various games involving mouth to mouth! The couples were: Hoya & Dongwoo (‘Yadong’ couple), L & Sungyeol (‘Sooyeol’ couple), and Woohyun & Sunggyu (‘Jjiggraegi’ couple).

Check out the hilarious clip below!
