[Trans] Anchor woman: JYJ was the first group to have their solo concerts in South America!

Posted: 21 Mar 2012 08:58 AM PDT

In South America as well, the country seems to be in the grips of Hallyu fever. (To put it in more colloquial terms, Kpop fever is "all the rage") as mentioned by accompanied-reporter Lee Eun Jong.
"Yiha Rico, Yiha Rico (my beautiful child, it means my love)", at the concert venue after the performance, it seems as if those words were shouted for the group to not leave the stage.
On the other side of the world, fans that finally saw JYJ in real life after waiting for them for a very long time were so moved that they even shed tears.
In various parts of South America, fans flocked to the concert venue arena and slept outside a few days before the concert. They also waved placards with words in hangul, enjoying the festival because it seems that it will not be easy for them to come back again.
The fans sang along to JYJ's hit songs in Korean and also danced. Here, one can see the influx of Hallyu's Kpop influence in South America as well.
JYJ were also surprised by fans' passionate response.
"Everywhere we went, we were surprised by South American fans. When we saw them, they were welcoming and always cheering us on. Looking back at the world tour, South America had the hottest weather. However, outside the venue the sight of fans surrounding the arena and waiting for us put me in a good mood and moved me as well." Kim Jaejoong said during the interview.

After the concert ended, fans were so reluctant to leave and seemed to not be able to leave their seats.
JYJ fan, Karen Paris Margoria was interviewed and expressed her excitement for JYJ's concert by saying "In order to see the concert, for 5 days I slept inside the venue vicinity and waited. I was worried because I thought my heart wouldn't be able to handle it. It was the best show and one that was like a dream"

This concert was the final stop of the world tour that had begun since April of last year.
Kim Junsu was happy to be able to have a concert in South America and shared their experiences before and after the tour. "Before the world tour started we had not even one song to sing on stage. We were able to create something out of nothing. Thus, it meant a great deal. For the purpose of performing our solo concerts, we composed our own songs, wrote our own lyrics and made our own record. Starting from Korea to Japan and other parts of Asia, America, Europe and then ending in South America, it was a truly meaningful world tour." Junsu said.

"With JYJ's concert in South America we were able to grasp the extent of Kpop mania culture. From now on, as Kpop fever expands, in order to incorporate itself into South America's popular culture, effort/exertion is necessary." Reporter Lee Eun Jong of Yonhap News concluded.

[News] ‘Blond Death’ Kim Junsu’s attractive look with his mother!

Posted: 21 Mar 2012 08:32 AM PDT

JYJ Kim Junsu's mother has shared a photo for the fans.
Junsu's mother uploaded a photo taken with him on her personal Twitter account on March 18th. His mother wrote "Xiahtod has changed his hairstyle~ Are you curious about it? A special gift for everyone ♬" as the caption of the picture she tweeted.
In the picture, Junsu took a with his mother while in the waiting room. He is seen wearing a dalmatian-pattern gown, he oozes his sexiness with standout eye-makeup for his musical show. Above all, his mother garnered a lot of attention because of her calm smile and distinctive beauty.
Kim Junsu is currently playing the role of 'The Death' (Tod), a fantasy character in the musical 'Elisabeth', with Song Changeui and Ryu Junghan.
At the beginning, since 'The Death' is an imaginary figure, he was expected to have long blond hair. In the first show, Song Changeui also wore a long bond wig. However, due to the audience's response, from the second show, the long wig was replaced with short hairstyle. For that reason, Kim Junsu immediately had his hair dyed, then later revealed his grief via his twitter.
On the other hand, in Kim Junsu's current musical 'Elisabeth', Ock Joohyun and Kim Sunyoung is taking turn to play the role of Autrian queen Elisabeth. Since the production stage, the musical has caused quite a stir with its magnificent casts, stage, costumes and music. At the moment, this undefeatable musical is taking the number one spot on Interpark's sales chart. Also, Kim Junsu's popularity was proved once again as the tickets for his shows are particularly hard to get. In this musical, Kim Junsu has received good reviews for his role of 'Sexy Tod' by an improved acting skill and stable singing ability.

[News] The effect of Park Yoochun’s ‘Giseumyun’ advertisement!

Posted: 21 Mar 2012 08:19 AM PDT

Ottugi Giseumyun's sales index is on a steady rise after the brand was launched last November.

JYJ's Park Yoochun endorsed the food brand Giseumyun and seems it is the reason why the sales of Giseumyun increased by 18%.
According to Ottugi on March 15, after the release of Giseumyun on November 10 last year, 6 million packets was sold in merely 20 days. Giseumyun's sales exceeded 7.5 million packets in December and 7 million in January. The highest recorded sales were in February when they sold 8 million packets. It is explainable that the sales in January was affected by the Lunar New Year.
Particularly, following the favorable trend of Giseumyun's sales, after 4 months, sales of all Ottugi's ramyun increased by 18% in comparison with sales from last year. Precisely, Giseumyun was the main driver of the increase of Ottugi ramyun's sales.
A representative of Ottugi said "A superb flavor which was accomplished after a 3-year research and a unique marketing is our key to success in the long run. Not having the typical flavor of ramyun soup, Giseumyun has won over the heart of young women and middle-aged men who like hangover soup by its sharp and spicy taste in the clear broth."

[News] Yang Hyun Suk, "Big Bang's Comeback Was Entirely My Will!

Posted: 21 Mar 2012 08:06 AM PDT

On the talk about Big Bang's return time

- Is Big Bang's comeback to soon?
"The Big Bang members and I thought about this for a long time. We know that no matter how much time passes, Big Bang's faults cannot be forgiven. We figured that they can go on the path to earn forgiveness while working hard with music and bringing others joy. Forgiveness doesn't come from hiding away from others. Big Bang's Korean promotions are important, but from looking at YouTube's view counts, we could see the reaction overseas was hot as well. We thought it was right to meet the fans with a Big Bang of power and dignity. Big Bang's comeback was wholly my will. It was not the members'."

- How did it feel seeing Big Bang halt promotions.
"It was very hard over the past months. G-Dragon took a lot of time to reflect and focused on making music. That is why we reached such good results. Without this time of reflection, we might have released music without new style. He was able to learn from this experience with his hurt and focus a lot while reflecting on his actions."

- Don't you have to supervise them more now?
"People thing Big Bang and 2NE1 go out and party a lot but that is not the case. Don't you think I would be the best to know this information? They don't really know many other celebrities and they don't have much association. With the events that happened, they felt a heavy responsibility considering how much they were noticed. Rather than watching over them, I am trying to give them autonomy."

On the conflict with KBS
- It has been noticed that you are friendlier with SBS and there seem to be conflicts with KBS.

"Saying that "our relationships are uncomfortable" or that there is a "power struggle" is not true. What would an entertainment company earn from a power struggle with a broadcast company? We didn't go on any MBC shows, so I don't see why there isn't it about our relationship with MBC."

- Then what about the appearances on SBS compared to third parties.
We have a mutual understanding with SBS. We don't discriminate against broadcast companies, but we rather look at who the directors are. Park Sunghoon PD has a high rating, so last year with 2NE1's comeback we worked on the comeback stage with Park PD. We work hard to put on good performances, and we aren't trying to work with only one broadcast company.

We also try to promote on one music program per week. We do not discriminate and decide between music programs. If you go on a show that does not differentiate the stages, the singled ultimately is unable to be differentiated as well. We choose where to perform with a lot of care. The one time we perform, we want to put on a good stage."

- There is talk that you asked for special treatment from KBS and got denied, and that this why you do not perform on KBS shows.
"It doesn't make sense that a broadcast company is asked of special treatment. If this was the case we would want to be at the end of the program all the time. Last year on MBC GD&TOP only sang one song."

[NEWS] Williamsburg Hipsters Out-Hipstered By Korean Boy Band

Posted: 21 Mar 2012 04:48 AM PDT

We already gave you the heads up that K-pop sensation Big Bang is set to take over the world in 2012. And with their latest album, "Alive," dominating the charts, and a world tour in the works (the group has teamed up with concert production powerhouse Live Nation to take their show to 16 countries this year), the multi-talented quintet has already set themselves up for success barely three months into the year. While we eagerly wait for them to make landfall here in the states, the truth is they actually have...kinda. The videos for their latest hit singles, "Bad Boy" and "Blue," were filmed right here in NYC in mid-February, where for the first time their unique hip-hop-meets-meets-high-end fashion sense was put to the test in the city that certainly doesn't shrink away from avant-garde outfits.

And while we're sure most New Yorkers didn't bat an eye at their embellished jeans and all of their shimmer and shine, the fashion presented in "Bad Boy" in particular made us wonder if their unique aesthetic will either inhibit or prohibit their widespread popularity in the West as a whole. Don't get us wrong — what we love about Big Bang, and what sets them apart from many other boy bands, is their willingness to take risks with their clothing. At any one time you can find them in slick suits and button-ups, and then see them again a day later in graffiti-splattered jackets and leather skirts. Still, what have boy bands been so far to the American audience? Historically, they've been pretty clean-cut, with a lot of frosted tips, tight T-shirts, and some cringe-worthy facial hair here and there. Throw in a leather jacket, and that's as "edgy" as they'd get. In that respect, a group like Big Bang, who tends to mix together so many styles at once, could definitely be seen as an oddity — coupled with the fact that they will, unfortunately, have to overcome the "foreignness" that comes with having a large, non-English discography. Though we're embracing their boldness and their willingness not to follow trends as a breath of fresh air for a very stereotyped genre, we're dying to know what you think.

Check out the videos for "Bad Boy" below and tell us, would Big Bang's unique style be welcomed in the Big Apple, and could it potentially revolutionize the way we see boy bands? Or does the thought of another wave of synchronized dancing pretty boys make you balk, no matter what they're wearing?

[News] A Pink to make comeback in April

Posted: 21 Mar 2012 04:47 AM PDT

Are you excited for their comeback?

[NEWS] Big Bang, Super Junior and B2ST leading the Korean Wave Revolution

Posted: 21 Mar 2012 04:45 AM PDT

In a day and age when idol groups no longer take hiatuses, why does it seem like we hardly ever see them on stage? Well, we took a look into it and found out that it was due to the idol groups taking their performances to the global stage instead of just focusing on their activities in Korea.

Big Bang, Super Junior, B2ST and other idol groups all have very busy schedules and are performing in venues faraway from Korean fans. Moreover, these idol groups are leading the way in the global K-Pop craze, holding their aptly named 'World Tours' and meeting with fans all over the world.

Big Bang, who successfully completed its Seoul concert from March 2-4, will head to Japan next in the first half of this year. Then in the second half, the group will head to Southeast Asia, Europe, the United States and South America, making an appearance in 25 cities in 16 different countries on its world tour. Although Big Bang wasn't able to carry out many activities last year due to various complications, this coming year is expected to be extra special for the group.

Korea Investment & Securities analyst Kim Shi Woo said, "Big Bang will hold its world tour this year and there's much more to it than just seeing an increase in its concert revenue. Thanks to the joint venture with America's number one concert agency Live Nation, this has become a great opportunity for Korean artists to showcase their musical talents [in the U.S. market]. Big Bang's selection was most likely due to the group's strong odds to find success in the international music scene. And since the revenue will be distributed between YG Entertainment and Live Nation, there's a good chance Big Bang will make a profit in Japan and in the other countries as well."

Big Bang wisely used its strong popularity in Korea as a stepping stone to reach out to the rest of the world, and the group's global potential seem limitless.

Not surprisingly, Big Bang wasn't the only group eyeing a piece of the international music market. Thanks to its distinctive members who have become a dominating presence in the nation's living rooms, Super Junior has become a force to be reckoned with. Super Junior, widely known as the new driving force behind the recent Korean wave, has been meeting with fans in various countries through its 'Super Show 4' concert.

Super Junior already held successful concerts in Japan, Taiwan, Singapore and Macao. The members also attracted over 40,000 fans during its 3 day 'Super Show 4' concert in Thailand from March 16-18. Moreover, they were the first foreign artist to hold three concerts and attracted the largest crowd ever in Thailand.

Meanwhile, B2ST also successfully carried out its 'Beautiful Show' world tour and are on the cusp of becoming the next big global stars. On March 17, B2ST attracted over 4000 fans in Indonesia and the group's world tour, which started in Seoul, has already reached its fifth concert venue.

There was a time when the Korean wave was a tool to increase a celebrity's popularity back home. However, in today's digital age where real-time communication is instant thanks to the advancement of social networking websites, hiding your face behind your hands does not seem to work as a publicity tool. Furthermore, the success of Big Bang, Super Junior, and B2ST has proved that the Korean wave is not just another passing fad. Additionally, the three groups have shown that they are at the center of the current Korean wave.

As the global interest in K-Pop continues to heat up, today's current batch of idol groups are proudly showcasing the advancement of the music scene in Korea.
