[News] Korean Stars Won the hearts of Vietnamese fans.

Posted: 17 Mar 2012 07:13 AM PDT

VietNamNet Bridge – Super Junior, Davichi, Secret, CN Blue, BEAST, Sistar, MBLAQ and IU had a perfect show at the Vietnam – South Korea Festival on March 15 in Hanoi, which made thousands of fans go into ecstasy.

Korean singers arrived in Hanoi at night of March 14, and early morning of March 15. They did not have a lot of time to relax or practice. However, Korean idol singers performed enthusiastically. Two members of Davichi smoothly sang a Vietnamese song with Vietnamese singer Ho Quynh Huong. Vietnamese host Nguyen Khang and Korean host Kang Min Kyung combined in perfect teamwork.
Excellent dances, young and eye-catching singers, impressive costumes and popular hits were among the factors that attract the audience.

In its third show in Vietnam, Super Junior still sang Super man, Mr. Simple, Memories and Sorry sorry.BEAST performed Shock twice. IU performed Good day, You and I; CNBLUE with I'm alone, Intuition, Love Girl; Secret with Shy Boy, Moonlight Starlight, Love is move; MBLAQ with Oh Yeah, Mona Lisa and It's War; Sistar with How dare you, Ma boy and So cool. Davichi sang Don't say Goodbye, 8282. The performance between Vietnam's Minh Quan and BEAST was canceled but it was compensated by "Love in Hanoi" by singer Cheondung of MBLAQ and Hyorin of Sistar.

Two Vietnamese singers in the show were Minh Quan and Ho Quynh Huong, who performed a famous Korean song in Korean language.
Light and stage design are plus points for the Vietnam-South Korea Festival.
The show is a success in general. However, as a free show, the audience could not seek tickets while tickets were sold in the black market for several million dong/pairs. The show also opened nearly one hour late.

[News] Yoo Ah-in bares his fashion secrets!

Posted: 17 Mar 2012 06:47 AM PDT

Actor Yoo Ah-in recently appeared at a press conference to promote his new drama "Fashion King," which hits the airwaves on Monday.
At the event, Yoo talked about how difficult it was to maintain a fashionable appearance for the show.
"I got stressed out about what I should wear. My stylist has been in tears two times because of my demands," said Yoo.
The new SBS drama centers around a group of ambitious young people trying to make it in the cutthroat fashion industry.
Yoo plays the role of Young-geol, a bold rebel who starts out working at a factory in Dongdaemun, central Seoul, and later relocates to the United States in order to make it there.
"I had to pay a lot of attention to my costumes, as the character that I'm playing lives and breathes fashion," said Yoo, adding that he felt that playing the fashionable rebel enabled him to show a new side of himself. The actor will also show off his physique in a scene showing off his six-pack.
When asked what he thought about his character Young-geol, the actor said, "He's rough and a real rogue, but also childlike and cute."

[News] “The Moon that Embraces the Sun” Finally Ends- All eyes on KBS and SBS: Which network will it be this time?

Posted: 17 Mar 2012 06:10 AM PDT

The era of "The Moon that Embraces the Sun," which had given KBS and SBS dark/ominous times, is slowly fading away.
On March 14th, MBC's 20 episode Wed-Thurs drama, "The Moon that Embraces the Sun," finally reached its end.
Because of the recent circumstances (MBC's success), SBS's Wed-Thurs drama "Rooftop Prince's" PR department is promoting "Rooftop Prince" more than ever [to try to combat MBC]. Because of the main actors, JYJ's Park Yoochun and actress Han Ji Min, there is already hot anticipation from fans. Word of mouth from the network is that the script is good and because the Joseon King's fantasty-romance piece is similar to "The Moon that Embraces the Sun," the plan/hope is that viewers of "The Moon that Embraces the Sun" would transfer their attention to "Rooftop Prince."
Participating alongside "Rooftop Prince" is MBC's drama "King 2 Hearts," which, because of the lineup of "invincible" actress Ha Ji Won, will be slightly tough for "Rooftop Prince" (to receive top viewer ratings). However, because there is such high appraisal of the script for "Rooftop Prince," there are high expectations from within the network. Because "Rooftop Prince" is similar to "The Moon that Embraces the Sun," it's forecasted that it will not be "trampled over" by "King 2 Hearts."
SBS's "Rooftop Prince" and MBC's "King 2 Hearts" will both air their first episodes on March 21st.

[Interview] Miryo's NYLON Korea interview the days of innocence!

Posted: 17 Mar 2012 05:39 AM PDT

the days of innocence

Brown Eyed Girls's Miryo stood infront of the camera with an innocent face.
The powerful female warrior image disappears and stands in front of us with an atmosphere of a woman who easily gets hurt. It could be so that with this album, a woman that has all she wishes called Miryo is shown  Love, Hatred, Passion and innocent days are yearned for.

Q: You really suit the image of innocence?
A: I'm like that. Haha.

Q: From the past you showed us a lot of powerful images.
A: Yes but that i couldnt deny because I am a rapper. Because there cannot be an innocent rapper existing. Anyhow thank you for saying that i suit being innocent. Please write it on the newsletter. That I fit the image well. Haha.
Q: No need to ask cause i think I will. Haha.
How is your album promotion going?
A: It was good up to last week. This week a lot of new songs came out and I think I was pushed down a little. How did you like it?
Q: To tell you the truth I dont listen to a lot of Brown Eyed Girls songs.
I had to listen to the music for this interview and it wasn't boring at all.
A: To tell you the truth this album isn't really a hip hop genre. It's a album full of songs in which i wanted to do, it could even show no relation at all. I wanted to mix the pop-rock and electronic feeling together. There are no hip hop songs. So those who expected hip hop genre songs were disappointed. But for me I wanted to make songs which I listened to a lot recently, and the songs which I got ideas from so an album like this was born.
Q:The song isn't easy to sing a lomg with, but it keeps making me listen to it.
A:I tried to mix the foreign style and music into the songs slightly. If I try to do all the styles i want the audience might not like it so I even went easy with the rap. If you had listened to my songs there are a lot of melodic lines. For those parts you can easily hear them.
Q:What were your member's reactions.
A:They said it was good. That the song is good and work hard. And also for my musical styles to be shown worldwide.
Q: Were you satisfied with your results? When you think about it?
A: My album satisfaction? I liked it a lot. Even i liked it so much I kept listening to my songs for a period of time. But not everyone have the same ears.
Q: It's your first as a solo?
A: Yes. It's my first in my 13 year career.
Q: 13 years? already?
A: I did it since i was young.
Q: Was it you who chose your album concept and overall style?
A:First I thought of the concept myself.I ended up working with those people who agreed with my ideas.
Q: For the featurings there were a lot of different people who did it, each song showed a different colour.
The featuring voices all suited with Miryo's raps. Did you ask them yourself?
A:In Sunny's case I already knew her since through Invisible Youth. It may be because of Narsha's friendship with SNSD I keep my eye on them Also I thought that Sunny's voice would suit this song. I was finding a singer whos voice tone suited the song through a list and I thought it would be unexpected and good.
Q:You sang "Leggo" with Narsha. The voice was clear and sweet?
A:Of course. High note. When Narsha sings with a whispering voice it is attractive, and with her real voice she is really powerful.
Q:You were the same member with Gary in "honey Family", did you already know Koxx or Rude Paper?
A:Not at all. When I was finding people to make good songs for me, I had a feeling I had to find them myself. Because I cant write the tracks well. I try to write it and do it but it doesn't end up well like i had thought. And during that time I saw Rude Paper's live concert. huh I was really shocked to  see that there were good musicians in our country. That day I went to their waiting room and told them I liked their song and wanted to work together and we exchanged numbers and became friends since then For Koxx's case I heard a lot about them. But I really wasnt interested, and thought 'ah Who is this Koxx that is making everyone say koxx this koxx that'. And then I watched the trouble maker music video one day. After i watched it, it felt like i was punched. They were really good.  Up till then I didnt have any intersts in rock but after listening to that song it felt like my chest was cleared up. Even though it was rock it totally caught my attention. I saw them at the rock festival and they really had talent. I found out that Koxx was related to a "master plan". I knew someone in Master Plan and talked to him about it and he said even Koxx was happy to work with me and so we worked together. Anyhow I found work from here and there.

Q:Koxx's voice colour in "party Rock", when you compare it to Gary's,
you could say it was somewhat feels like a young teenager?
A: Really? His real voice isn't like thay, but i think it is heard like that in this song. On the recording day, Gary must have been tired. His voice was really tired. So i was a bit worried. I thought 'Would my voice suit his? His voice became a bit more husky...' but I'm happy it did suit in the end.
Q: Did you make the lyrics first? I curious how songs are made.
A: When I was young I studied to create lyrics and rap making at the same time. Truthfully it was good then. I could write it in one go. But when that doesn't happen I make a concept and try to match it with the concept in both 1st and 2nd verse. Here i'll write this and here I'll write that. And then I make the flow. If you compare to a song its composing. You make the melody and create the rap making to suit that. Thinking of rhymes..
Q: How did this song progress?
A: For this song there are 2 things that are mixed. The good ones are made easily. And the ones that are hard to finish I try to find a way to finish it. Haha.

Q: You composed by yourself? There are story parts of like dating and others were in your song ,
Are these the stories you wanted to sing?
A:It's an Extended Play so I didnt want to go with anything heavy, So I made slightly light song as a title. Truthfully "Dirty" is a song about managing surroundings.  The lyrics are about my recent experiences. The songs i like are dance-able. I like those songs which you can turn on and dance to them.

Q: Still you would have a rap part which you put into a song about a story you wanted to tell,
do you have any expressions you are fond of?
A:From my 5th track "Leggo", '까만 밤 이 도신 어둠을 내려 숨겨온 진실함이 고개를 들게 해요. TV 화면 속에선 나 웃고 있는 듯해도 내 가슴속에선 구멍이 뚫린 듯 해요.' parts like these.
Q:A feeling of your current status?
A: Yes. When people see me I am a member of BEG to them. "You made a lot of money, What kind of worries do you have" and think like this, but I really do have a quenched feeling which cannot be satisfied.

[News] Sunny Displays Her CEO Instincts on ‘Invincible Youth 2′!

Posted: 17 Mar 2012 05:16 AM PDT

Girls' Generation's Sunny showed off her hidden CEO-like instincts. (Editor's note: a "CEO" is a "Chief Executive Officer", the highest position in a company or corporation.)
In the upcoming episode of KBS2′s "Invincible Youth 2″, scheduled to air on the 17th, the members of G8 were given a mission to develop a self-sufficient item or idea. They all went out to find successful and unmarried farmers who were millionaires.
With one million won in farming development funds on the line, the G8 members did their best to come up with an idea. It was said that Sunny received a standing ovation from staff members by showing CEO-like instincts, which made it seem like the staff were seeing a second Lee Sooman, the founder and former CEO of SM Entertainment.
Sunny went to see the bachelor of "Hwangtae Dukjang". She suggested the idea of manufacturing mullets, stingrays, and gobies, which all can easily be found in the fishing village of Daebudo.
She revealed her three-part idea of learning how to dry the hwangtae (dried pollack), how to create commonly sold dried pollack strips, and how to use the pollack to create dishes. Sunny added her idea of creating processed goods for children, such as instant noodles or other snacks.
Sunny's exceptional CEO-like talents didn't stop there. Her idea was just the start, as she went on to show her capabilities as a CEO by writing down even the smallest know-hows from the "Hwangtae Dukjang".
The March 17th 11:05 pm broadcast of "Invincible Youth 2″ will reveal whether or not CEO Sunny wins the farming development funds.

[NEWS] The Vancouver Sun: "Big Bang’s latest video is fantastic, baby"

Posted: 17 Mar 2012 04:59 AM PDT

"Big Bang: Blowing up."
K-pop sensation Big Bang's latest video is fantastic, baby

The boy band genre may be slowly fading in North America, but over in Asia, one act is blowing up all over the place.

If you haven't yet heard of K-pop sensation Big Bang, an ultra-stylized five-piece boy band from South Korea, chances are you will hear about them a whole lot more in the near future.

Consisting of G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P., Daesung and Seungri, Big Bang has been active since 2006 and has released various EPs that helped it break into the Japanese market.

The group's latest "mini album" Alive was released in February, and single Fantastic Baby has garnered over eight million views on YouTube since it was released just 10 days ago.

It doesn't hurt that Fantastic Baby is easily one of the most colourfully twisted pop videos we've seen in a while, combining RPG style art, riot gear, steampunk elements and street pop swagger.

Rumours abound concerning a worldwide tour, so keep your ears peeled.

[NEWS] "Fantastic Baby" on's 5 Best Videos of the Week

Posted: 17 Mar 2012 03:05 AM PDT

1. BigBang – "Fantastic Baby" (Dir. Seo Hyun Seung)
We used to make things in this country. Among those things were nonsensical high-gloss music videos that made your brain explode in another way every five seconds or so. Not anymore. We've totally given up worldwide-leader status in that department to South Korea, where incredible stuff like this comes out all the time.

BigBang, almost certainly the greatest boy band on earth right now, came close to topping this list last week with their breezily ridiculous "Bad Boy" video. That was awesome, but this — a candy-colored dystopia of dancing dragons and gas-masked rioters and hairstyles that laugh in the face of God — this is another thing entirely. If you're in an indie band, please watch this and thing long and hard before releasing another Instagram-looking mediocrity into the world.

Check the rest of their list here.

Last week, it was BIGBANG's Bad Boy that was included in their Best Videos list. Info on Stereogum here.
