Gary reunites with Song Ji Hyo as the “Monday couple” on ‘Running Man’?

Posted: 15 Apr 2012 09:29 AM PDT

On the April 15th episode of SBS‘s ‘Running Man‘, Gary and Song Ji Hyo were able to briefly reunite as the “Monday couple” after two months.

After news hit that Song Ji Hyo was dating the CEO of her entertainment company, the “Monday couple” seemed to have died away. Gary and Song Ji Hyo were partnered together for this week’s couple race, however, the two couldn’t help but notice the awkward atmosphere.

As the two drove their way to the fishing location for their next mission, Gary suddenly spoke up saying, “Oppa is lonely these days, so I’m sure we’ll be able to catch a lot of fish,” causing Song Ji Hyo to laugh at his cheesy comment.

Instead of driving to their designated location, they stopped by at a supermarket. When Song Ji Hyo asked if she could buy anything she wanted to eat, Gary seems to have been secretly longing for the “Monday couple” as he replied, “I’ll buy you anything you want to eat. In return, start over with me!” However, when they got on the canoe for a mission, the two began to quarrel causing Gary to erupt in anger shouting, “Let’s break up!

Netizens couldn’t help but laugh at his hilarious remarks commenting, “He changes his mind too quickly” and “I would’ve accepted Gary.”

allkpop TV Guide: Rooftop Prince Ep. 7

Posted: 15 Apr 2012 08:00 AM PDT

Official Synopsis: A prince from the Chosun era, Yi Gak (JYJ's Yoochun), along with his entourage, which includes Song Man Bo (Lee Min Ho), Do Chi San (Choi Woo Shik) and Woo Young Sul (Jung Seok Won), are catapulted 300 years into the future. As he attempts to investigate the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of the princess he loved, he unexpectedly finds himself in the city of Seoul in the year 2012, where he comes across a woman who looks exactly like his beloved crown princess…

Ratings: The competition is heating up as SBS‘s ‘Rooftop Prince‘ was able to hold its crown with a record of a 12.5% rating while MBC‘s ‘The King 2 Hearts‘ trailed closely behind with 11%. As MBC aired an additional episode with yesterday’s broadcast of the elections, the eighth episode was able to rake in a higher rating of 12.5%. Meanwhile, KBS‘s ‘Equator Man‘ achieved an increase from last week’s rating with a 10.8%. With the drama nearing its halfway point, let’s see if the positions will begin changing.

Recap of Ep. 7: Yi Gak runs after the crying Park Ha (Han Ji Min) and worriedly asks her the reason why she’s crying, only to be met with Park Ha’s anger. To comfort her, he hopes to offer her either a strawberry or banana yogurt drink, but ends up drinking by himself, sitting a few feet away from Park Ha. Despite his attempts, Park Ha vents out her frustration from her fight with Se Na (Jung Yumi) and scares the cowering Yi Gak as well as his three courtiers.

Se Na’s hospitalized “mother” is visited by Chairman Jang, who makes a surprising revelation that she will stop looking for her daughter, Se Na. Chairman Jang explained her reappearance to claim Se Na. She has relapsed with cancer, despite a surgery four years ago, and wanted to see her birth daughter before dying.

While Park Ha packs up her bags, Yi Gak tries to stop her, making all her belongings fall to the ground. Discovering the ripped childhood photo of Park Ha and her father (with her mother’s head missing), Yi Gak excitedly asks her if she regained her memories. Park Ha explains to him how her birth mother left her at a young age, causing Yi Gak to ponder his own conflict with Se Na as Princess Hwa Young.

As Se Na’s adoptive mother is discharged from the hospital, she asks Tae Mu (Lee Tae Sung) to hire Park Ha at his company, which he agrees to do. Meanwhile, Prince Yi Gak discovers sweet peppermints, or rather ‘Park Ha’ candies, ordering all his three courtiers to bite on them, releasing their frustration and annoyance at Park Ha. However, much to Yi Gak’s anger, Young Sul gently sucks on the candy, bullying him into biting into the candies.

Chairman Jang eases Tae Mu’s worries, reassuring him that she is not abruptly returning to Hong Kong because of her disappointment in him. However, she makes a personal request before she goes, asking Tae Mu to search for her lost daughter, presenting the same photo that Park Ha has. Se Na notices the photo on Tae Mu’s desk and realizes that the baby in the photo is Park Ha. After hearing that Park Ha’s mother is the biggest shareholder next to Tae Young’s grandmother, she prevents Se Na from meeting with Park Ha and Tae Young, who traveled to Chunchon to find Park Ha’s family.

While Tae Mu and Se Na hug after sending off Chairman Jang, Tae Mu’s father catches them and forbids them from dating. Depressed, Se Na meets up with Yi Gak, who reassures her that Se Na will come to like him. Tae Mu catches the two, and Se Na angrily tells him to break up. Later, Taek Soo, a worker at the company and close associate of Tae Young, tells Tae Mu that he knows he met up with Tae Young in New York. Nervous, Tae Mu later catches sight of Yi Gak, his servants, and Park Ha conversing, and eavesdrops on the conversation through headphones, catching that Yi Gak is allergic to crabs.

Tae Mu later takes Yi Gak to play squash with him and easily wins. He tells Yi Gak that he had never won a squash game against Tae Young before, warning him that he doesn’t believe for a single moment that Yi Gak is Tae Young.

kdramacrazy's Thoughts:

[Note : This post reflects the opinions of the author, and not necessarily those of allkpop.]

My bitter anger and frustration at Se Na, whose head I wanted to rip apart, seeped through my enjoyment of the episode. More moments of Se Na meant an unhappy viewer. While Tae Mu is also an antagonist where he committed voluntary manslaughter, viewers can sympathize a little bit with him because all his actions, his evil plans, are to cover his ugly secret and protect his innocence. Meanwhile, Se Na is much more evil and hated by viewers because she has absolutely no motive or reason to hurt Park Ha, other than her selfish mind not being able to stand the idea of Park Ha’s mother being rich. Although I can see (a little bit, a tiny bit?) why Se Na could be necessary to help twist the plot, less moments of her make me a happier person. Or, even better, more moments of Park Ha sassing Se Na.

The makjang element of the drama, with the birth mother of Se Na and Park Ha being the same, was quite a twist, but it was a bit annoying that they had to overstretch the role of Chairman Jang. Never mind the fact that the woman is a terrible mother (Really?! Not just once, but twice?!), but I hope it doesn’t go into a hot pot of mess with surprising birth secrets sprouting everywhere or turn the drama into a melodrama.

And although the fangirl part of me was a little disappointed that there weren’t more cute or hilarious moments, although I loved how the story is steadily developing Young Sol’s character (poor boy. I hope he starts to bully Prince Yi Gak), and was a little frustrated that Yi Gak is still head over heels for Se Na, I can see how it will be implausible to have Yi Gak abruptly love Park Ha. Not only will that question Yi Gak’s faithfulness, but it’s also nice that the drama is creating two parallel roads between Se Na and Hwa Young, in their conniving nature. Because it’ll be interesting to see both girls’ true natures being revealed, shattering Yi Gak’s illusion.

Shinhwa member, Lee Minwoo recently revealed his strange habit while taking a shower.

On the April 14th broadcast of JTBC‘s ‘Shinhwa Show‘, the members brought the cameras into their personal lives and showed their true sides.  On this broadcast, the members were given a mission by the show staff to act like their normal selves for a week.

Through a small interview session, Lee Minwoo expressed, “I was really happy when I heard that we could reveal our personal and private lives that we hid until now.  I’ve always wanted to show it once.”

As soon as Minwoo walked inside his home, he started taping himself with a portable handheld cam recorder.  ”Do you want to see my eyes?  However, I can’t show you my eyes tonight.  It’s because I have this habit when I take a shower.  That is taking a shower with sunglasses.  Occasionally, I wear sunglasses while taking a shower“, he told.

When asked why he wears a sunglass, Minwoo hilariously answered, “It’s because my body shines so bright [aka my body is too hot/beautiful]“.  Moments later, Minwoo apologized for his joke and truthfully told, “Sorry.  To be honest, the fog covers the shades and irritates my eyes.  I would never recommend taking a shower with sunglasses to anyone.”

Jay Park and Lee Si Young grow closer on ‘Music and Lyrics’

Posted: 15 Apr 2012 02:55 AM PDT

Popular stars Jay Park and Lee Si Young were seen growing closer together, through exercise on the recent episode of ‘Music and Lyrics’.

On April 14th, MBC aired ‘Music and Lyrics‘ in lieu of the normal broadcast of ‘We Got Married‘, due to the ongoing labor strikes.

In the episode, Jay Park and Lee Si Young met to share their self-produced lyrics and music. The two found that they had excellent chemistry and roundly exchanged polite complements.

Afterwards, the two decided to go on an exercise date in order to overcome their awkwardness. As they played to see who is better at free throws, Jay Park found himself highly surprised to see how good Lee Si Young was, even though she claimed she had never done it before.

Ultimately, Lee Si Young triumphed over Jay Park and he had give her a piggy back ride as punishment. Apparently, this punishment was great for the two of them, as Lee Si Young found herself flustered at Jay’s manly physique and Jay enjoyed the advancement of their closeness through this skinship.

Police confirm that Open World Ent.’s CEO forced male idols to sexually harass trainees

Posted: 14 Apr 2012 11:01 PM PDT

On April 15th, Kangnam police confirmed, what was previously reported, that Open World Entertainment‘s CEO had indeed ordered male idol group members to participate in the sexual harassment of six of his trainees.

Police revealed that the CEO could face several charges of gang rape, and that investigations also revealed that he had indeed ordered his male idol groups to participate in the abuse.

Officials of the police stated, “Since the end of 2010, the CEO sexually harrassed six trainees over 10 times. In the process, he had also ordered male idol groups members under his own agency to harrass them as well.”

The police have currently launched additional investigations into the case and are discussing the charges to be made against the male idol group members.

Police continued, “We believe that the CEO had not used violence or threats to force the male idols into committing such acts, but rather his status and power. We will have to continue our investigations on whether there was such compliance at the actual scene.”

As previously reported, police have confiscated CCTV videos and phone conversation recordings and currently have a considerable amount of evidence against the CEO.

Ivy opens up about her painful hiatus

Posted: 14 Apr 2012 10:45 PM PDT

On April 14th, reporters of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Entertainment Relay‘ visited the set of Ivy‘s comeback music video filming and sat down for a heartfelt interview discussing her return.

Ivy began, “I went through a lot of pain during my break.. I finally feel like I’m living life now that I’m out. Since I was on hiatus for so long, I missed the stage a lot and wanted people to hear my songs. My hiatus just felt so long.”

She continued, “I watched all of the music programs every week. Since I had nothing else to do, I would just watch TV all day. Once I turned it off, I felt so pathetic as I sat there on the sofa. I would think to myself, ‘I should be on that screen…’ The industry these days is largely focused on idol singers, so it was disappointing to see that there weren’t many solo artists promoting.”

For the past two years and six months, Ivy has gone through several obstacles like her lawsuit with her company. When asked how she dealt with the rumors that surrounded her, she replied calmly, “I think it’s something that any celebrity has to go through at some point in their career.”

Tearing up at the thought of her family having to undergo the same pain, she continued, “My father learned how to work the internet and read the hateful replies about me. I didn’t know what to do then. The pain my family received was greater than my own. It’s because of my family that I’m able to make my comeback, as they were my biggest source of strength.”
