[INFO] 2PM Member’s Selection Commentary!

Posted: 24 May 2012 08:55 AM PDT

TRACK 1: 10 points out of 10
Junsu At first I was really very glad to receive such a sensible song from Jinyoung-hyung. But my parts were only ad-libs at verse 2 and 3, and this song actually almost caused my personal slump with all the microphones that didn't work well during the TV performances.

TRACK 2 : Only You
Junsu It's the first song we received from Jinyoung hyung before our debut. I learned more about singing while re-recording the song with Jinyoung hyung for hundreds of times. Historically, it is the song that took 2PM the longest time to record. It's a song that I would call the teacher of recording sensibility.

TRACK 3 : Again and Again
Wooyoung It's a song that we have first recorded at the JYPEnt USA branch in New York. We prepared hard for this song, practising and being taught at the dorm for a week. Everything felt new and fresh being in New York, but I was also very proud and felt great to know that our company had a building in Manhattan. And the most important thing! Our first No. 1 song on National TV^^

TRACK 4 : I Hate You
Taecyeon When I first heard "I hate you" I got this feeling of excitement starting from the fast beat part at the chorus. It was really hard to record, because the rap making was different from the established JYP rap style, but I think it's the song that contributed the most to the current "Beastly" image!

TRACK 5 : She Might Come Back
Chansung It's a very placid song that is fit for easy listening and allows you to feel Jongsu hyung's [the composer] sensibility. If you listen to this song, it sort of calms you down and softens your mood..!! heh heh

TRACK 6 : Heartbeat
Taecyeon Ah! I was shocked when I heard Heartbeat for the first time… I was totally against it, thinking it might not work out because of the unique rap style, but as the choreography and full arrangement was done, my opinion changed. I think that today's 2PM would not be where we are now if it weren't for Heartbeat.

TRACK 7 : Tired of Waiting
Chansung The vocals at the beginning that give away an intense image together with the percussion intro! I think it's an exciting and admirable music by Changttai hyung with the right impact! Even though my part at the 2nd verse is really hard, because it's high-pitched… ㅠㅠ

TRACK 8: Gimme the Light
Wooyoung It's a song written to us by Busan-native Jo Jongsu-haengnim. I guess I could say it's a song that has become our light. I suppose the lyrics approached us like that. I think at that time we were in need of the light.

TRACK 9: Don't Stop Can't Stop
Taecyeon It was the first composition sent by Jinyoung hyung for the title song after the end of Heartbeat's zenith, and I felt that the lyrics and the melody really contained all the 2PM feelings at the time. Erupting with all that pain and hurt it was a bit too strong to become a title song, but personally it is my favourite 2PM song.

TRACK 10 : Without U
Junho I think it's a song that via its lyrics and choreography represented the hardships 2PM went through. It's a song that showcases a very neat style and members' sexual appeal.

TRACK 11: I'll be back
Junho I think it's a piece of creation that was ahead of its time considering every single part of it – vocals, choreography, outfit, hair & make-up. Eye make-up with golden and silver foil, boots embedded with studs, the first national shuffle dance – it's a song that set a trend.

TRACK 12: I Can't
Nichkhun I was really very excited when we first received this song. I really liked it, since I originally am a Ra.D hyung's fan, and I thought that the song was EXACTLY my style. It's a song that calms me down and gives me warmth every single time we perform it on stage.

TRACK 13 : Hands Up
Chansung I really liked it, because it was a strong resonating song that we could enjoy with everyone. Also it's a song I'm especially attached to, because it was the first time I sang the main chorus part…!!

TRACK 14: Give It to Me
Nichkhun It's a song I like personally very much. I got a very good feeling when I first listened to it. And I also had a hunch that the fans would love it too. I thought that our Junho was great, I was so proud of him. Lee PD, fighting!=)

TRACK 15: Hot
Wooyoung It's a great song written by our eldest Junsu hyung for 2PM. I was really shocked to see him composing overnight. Junsu hyung's passion is really hot. As a younger [brother] I felt that I really had a lot to learn from him. Junsu hyung the best!!

TRACK 16 : Thank You
Nichkhun I always feel very touched when I have to speak out the words at the beginning of the song: "This is for my Hottest". There have always been so many things I wanted to tell our Hottest, and I'm really glad we were able to do it all through this song. Hottest, thank you for loving us!! Always ♥

Junho It's a song that Junsu hyung ambitiously prepared for his own solo stage. I think it's a song that has showcased his boundless potential. It was new and fresh, considering that it was in a genre 2PM has never tried before.

Junsu It's Junho's self-composed song for the concert, a duet with Wooyoung. I think that the full feeling of this song can be reach while listening to it and watching both of them dance. I remember, that when the song still didn't have a title the members would call it "Fire baby", because it was the part of the lyrics that stood out the most.

[INTERVIEW] KSTYLE's Interview with 2AM!

Posted: 24 May 2012 08:30 AM PDT

With vocals that are truly impressive and heart-rending ballads, from the melancholic songs they sing, their loveliness is almost palpable; 2AM, with an ever-increasing fanbase. Having released their 2nd single 'You Wouldn't Answer my Calls' on April 11, reaching the Oricon Top 10 Ranking, the extent of their ability and popularity has been publicly expressed.

This time, K-Style conducted an interview with 2AM as they visited Japan for the commemoration event for 'You Wouldn't Answer My Calls'. At first, perhaps due to nervousness, they gave very serious answers, but in the second half, maybe they grew accustomed to the atmosphere, they began to be more light-hearted and harmonious. The members who get along extremely well, coordinated to joke around together, laughing; feeling Iike friends sometimes, and at other times like brothers.

This is an interview where their true selves are uncovered with normally disallowed questions about their daily lives.

- Regarding your health regimes while recording, especially about paying attention to care for your throats and vocal cords, to produce harmonies usually, do you have anything you look out for?

Seulong: Above everything, sleep a lot. Sleeping well sufficiently is best for taking care of your throat. Harmonies are not made by only 1 person singing, 4 people doing it well is important in the first place.
Jo Kwon: While travelling in the car and such we do practice harmonizing.

- When singing heart-rending ballads, what do you do to intensify the emotions expressed?

Seulong: While thinking of sad times, I express those emotions even more strongly.
Changmin: I focus on the lyrics.

- What do you when you face Japanese lyrics?

Jo Kwon: Japanese lyrics are actually slightly different from Korean lyrics. The contents of the music videos are related but it seems like the lyrics are slightly different. It is a little difficult to understand the meaning and emotions in the Japanese lyrics but I try my best to convey these well.

- It seems that your Japanese has improved quite a bit this time while you're promoting your 2nd single as compared to when you came to promote your 1st single. How do you study Japanese?

Jo Kwon: We are always trying our best while studying. I have a Japanese language teacher in Korea, it's the same for Changmin, and so for me... For Seulong too, Jinwoon as well, if we have time we would go for lessons. Especially Changmin and I, we go for lessons quite often.
Changmin: I would think that beyond personal levels of pronunciation, us members as a group being able to enunciate well is more important. Above everything, there are many opportunities to deliver songs to audiences. We study Japanese in each of our own ways, through dramas and other methods. I feel that singing also does help too.
Jo Kwon: Well, being in Japan really does go towards improving our Japanese.

- What kind of dramas do you often watch?

Changmin: Jo Kwon, what were you watching before this?
Jo Kwon: The drama 2PM's Wooyoung recommended me, 'Pride'. Kimura Takuya-san and Takeuchi Yuko-san star in it. I was touched by the movie 'I am going to meet you now' as well. I watch anime recently.

- Do you have any places you must visit when you come to Japan?

Seulong: The ramen house!
Jo Kwon: Studio!
Jinwoon: Hotel! (Laughs)
Seulong: We always go exercising.

- Yesterday you uploaded a picture of all of you exercising on Twitter. (see tweet here)

Changmin: Yes, it was a picture of the four of us running on the treadmill. It was a rare sight.
Jo Kwon: My leg…
Changmin: You couldn't see his leg, it was like sonic…

- Jo-kwon, the self-shots you upload to Twitter always turn into hot topics for your fans, what kind of things inspire you to take those shots?

Jo Kwon: Twitter is not a private platform in my opinion, as many people do look at my pictures. Everything is a service to my fans.

- Seulong, you garner much attention with that height of yours, at which point do you think you're the coolest?

SO: Thank you very much!
JW: I think you can see it from the kind of pictures Seulong likes. Like those taken when he plays soccer…
SO: Photos taken of me while playing soccer. Photos of me wearing the soccer uniform!
JK: There are really nice ones of Seulong while playing soccer. Cheongdam Middle School's 'Hot Blood'.
SO: I will show you. The kinds of photos I am referring to…
SO: (Taking out his mobile phone) This kind, I like photos of me playing soccer.
CM: Maybe these will come out when you search for 'Seulong soccer' on the Internet (laughs).

(Editor's Note: We could not find it.)

- Jinwoon-san, you acted in 'Dream High 2' and your acting has been highly regarded. For you who has just began on the pathway of acting, what kind of roles would you like to challenge yourself with?

JW: Thank you very much. I had been interested in acting to begin with. During 'Dream High 2', there were still parts that I insufficiently portrayed. I would like to improve more and then tackle my next work.

- Changmin-san is the oldest within the group. Are there words of wisdom you would like to share?

CM: There is not much I would like to say, but I have this habit of rising early. Because I am an early riser, everyone goes "It's because of your age that you wake early". It is not an effort only older people make. But as compared to last year, exercising makes me more tired nowadays.
SO: He has many worries.
CM: Yes I do. I will try to prepare for this and that, but if I am unable to do so, I will worry.

- We have interesting questions related to your 2nd single coming from your fans. What would you do if a call you make is not picked up? Will you hang up or hold on?

SO: I would wait. Until it is picked up.
JK: I would try calling 2-3 times. Maybe (It might come back)…
CM: With differing circumstances, if I know that the person I am trying to reach is not busy, I would wait until my call is picked up.
JK: Scary…
JW: I would send a text message. Like "Quickly give me a call alright?"
CM: More threateningly like "You'd better give me a call"
JK: I never received a message from JW before…
CM: Because we're not his lover.
JK: Ahh, lover.

- You took on Hirai Ken-san's 'Hitomi wo Tojite (Close Your Eyes)' for your 2nd single. Do you have any other Japanese artiste's song you would like to challenge next?

SO: I would like to sing Mr. Children-san's song. As 'Shirushi' is my favourite song, I would like to sing it.
JK: I would like to sing Nishino Kana-san's 'Dear…' and Nakajima Mika-san's 'Sakura-iro Mau Koro (When the Sakura Dance)'
CM: Previously, 2AM did a cover of Fukuyama Masaharu-san's song. Recently I started to really like 'Sakura-ou', I would like to sing that.
JW: There is a song entitled 'Friend' by Tamaki Kouji-san. With such whole feelings permeating through its sound, I think it would be suitable for 2AM to make a cover of it.

- Do you go to sing karaoke? When you do, what songs do you often sing?

SO: I don't like karaoke very much. I don't go often. If I do go, I sing upbeat songs more than ballads. I sing 2PM songs quite a lot…
JK: The only songs I do not sing are upbeat ones. I think about going to karaoke only around 1-2 times a year, and when I go I sing and horse around. I enjoy singing 2AM songs remixed into disco versions.
CM: I sing any other song except 2AM ones.
CM: 2AM songs are sung at concerts and we normally sing them as well… I sing upbeat songs like 2PM's often.
JW: Same for me. I start singing in chronological order from songs in the 90s.
SO: Jinwoon sings a lot of rock songs. His voice gets hoarse the next day.

- What do 2AM songs wish to communicate to its audience?

SO: We would like to convey happiness, anger, agony & humour. They are not merely sad songs. We would like to express the sensitivity of the four of us, and also the lyrics. We would like to communicate emotions and experiences rather than the technical aspects.

- Lastly, your fans' expectations are rising with 'One Day' activities. If it were possible, which 2PM member would you like to form a unit group with?

SO: When we were trainees, I used to sing duets with Taecyeon in the studio. We often talked about doing it for real one day.
JK: I often practiced with Nichkhun on the piano when we were trainees. It would be very interesting if we get a chance to be able to perform together.
CM: I would like to form a unit with Nichkhun as well. If we are able to be paired together (laughs).
CM: I don't think there has been a time that I've lost in terms of visuals.
SO: Nichkhun would be facing the camera and Changmin would be singing behind (laughs)
CM: That would be the best ever.
JW: It would be Junho for me. I have been listening to the songs Junho composed. He has said that he composed songs with dance in mind but they are songs with a certain feeling of rock. Junho will present the music he has in mind and if I can support him in any area, it would be a really fascinating collaboration.

With them beginning promoting as part of 'One Day', please look forward to their activities! Thank you very much, 2AM!

[INTERVIEW] Cine21 Interview with Eunhyuk!

Posted: 24 May 2012 08:11 AM PDT

Eunhyuk's I AM

1.  Words that I like to hear the most are [of course it's Eunhyuk].
2.  The people that I respect the most are [my parents].
3.  A part of my body that I'm confident about the most is [my butt].
4.  If I didn't become a singer, I would have become [a skinny kid in town].
5.  The people that come to my mind right now are [the members].
6.  My favorite song is [Billie Jean].
7.  In my lifetime, the moment that I cried the most was [when I was born].
8.  The person that I want to shoot a movie with is [Emma Watson].
9.  If I meet a person of the opposite sex on a blind date, I would [love her].
10.  If I was reborn, I would become [me].

There is a a term called top star sickness.  It is a deragotory term used for a person who acts arrogantly and becomes self-conscious without a reason because he or she is a celebrity.  On a variety show, Leeteuk from Super Junior criticized Eunhyuk's top star sickness.  It was a story about him not eating kimchi jiigae because he had ordered tuna kimchi jiigae and received regular kimchi jiigae instead and how he always wears a hat and mask.  Eunhyuk responded saying him hiding his face was the management company's tactic.  There is no reason to react seriously to a story that's meant to be funny.  Eunhyuk and Leeteuk always bicker with each other which is shown in I AM.  Eunhyuk was unpretentious in person.

"I don't think about wanting to live lavishly.   I just like standing on stage."  Before he debuted as Super Junior at the age of twenty, he danced every day at the practice room for 6 years.  Eunhyuk from the training days who liked dancing appears in I AM.  A boy who looks gentle shows off his strong dancing.  The dancing overpowers his shabby fashion and hairstyle.  At that moment, adult Eunhyuk approaches the boy and does the same move.  It's a scene that was created using chroma-key technique where Eunhyuk from the past and Eunhyuk in the present appear together.  "I didn't feel proud of young Eunhyuk.  I felt it was cute and sad.  I thought I grew up a lot. And what's amazing is that I remember the choreography that I learned at the time."  Euhyuk said, "old stories are fun, right?" and talked about stories from his trainee days.  He spoke with self-pride about the sweat that he shed.

Eunhyuk now is at a place where it wouldn't be odd for him to have top star sickness.  Less than a year after Super Junior debuted, they became number one on music programs and have continued to be successful.  Then on October 23, 2011, musicians from SM Entertainment including Super Junior stood on the stage of New York Madison Square Garden.  "The concert at the Madison Square Garden contained desires of many people.  There was a sense of responsiblity more than the excitement.  It was because the impression about K-Pop could change because of us."  Sense of responsibility is another keyword that describes Eunhyuk.  "When I was growing up, my family wasn't well off.  I swore that I would pay off the family debt and make my parents happy when I debut.  That thinking changed to a sense of responsibility."  Now, he prides himself on being a good son.  He got to go on a vacation with his parents overseas which he wanted to do for a long time and this year, at the age of twenty-seven, he gave his parents a house as a present.  The dream of a normal young man Lee Hyukjae and not the member of Super Junior is to travel all over the world with people he loves.  To achieve that dream, Super Junior's Eunhyuk works hard doing Asia tours and world tours.  Between a grand reality and a simple dream, there was him.

[NEWS] 4minute HyunA’s thoughts towards becoming an adult

Posted: 24 May 2012 07:40 AM PDT

May 21st is 'Coming of Age Day' in South Korea, and many idols are maturing into adults that day. Wonder Girls' Sohee, Girl's Day's Yura, SISTAR's Soyu, INFINITE's L, TEEN TOP's C.A.P, and 4minute's HyunA are only some of the idols who are transitioning into adulthood.

4minute's HyunA revealed her thoughts towards becoming an adult, "I want to become a mature adult who will fulfill my responsibilities diligently. I was shocked that my parents wanted to celebrate 'Coming of Age Day'. Rather than attempting things I've never tried before, I want to focus on areas I'm experienced in."

When reporters asked if HyunA had received any gifts, she responded, "I received flowers, perfume, and bags from my fans. I also want to celebrate Coming of Age Day' in a cafe with my members."

Also, recently on MBC Music's 'Show! Champion', a survey was conducted to see which idol had the most kissable lips. In the survey, the faces of the idols were not shown and only the lips were exposed. In the end, it was HyunA won first place in the female division, while INFINITE's L won first place in the male category.

[NEWS] 4minute disappointed in promotion results, vow to solidify group color

Posted: 24 May 2012 07:25 AM PDT

4minute has formally ended promotions for "VOLUME UP" on last week's on SBS 'Inkigayo'.

4minute came back after a year with their album, releasing on April 9. The group that is currently in their 4th year and are focusing on solidifying their place. This time, their comeback was challenged by rival group Sistar, who came the same week 4minute did. But 4minute utilized their sexiness to differentiate themselves from Sistar, showing off strong charisma and planting the image in the minds of the public that, "This is 4minute."

And before one knew it, the group reappeared on stage with these promotions, transforming into a senior group full of abundance and showing a strong stage performance.

However, there naturally remains some dissatisfaction. The girls were safely able to snag the top spot on various online music download sites, but results on music programs were not quite as good. Though they won on Mnet's 'M! Countdown' and MBC Music's 'Show Champion', they weren't able to savior victory on any other show. This aroused some questions in the general public.

Cube Entertainment representative said, "More than the popularity of this one particular album, we are focused on positioning the girls for the future. We're looking at long-term plans." He continued, "We want to focus on doing things only 4minute can do, showing a powerful stage performance and good singing, and strengthening the colors of 4minute."

4minute will continue on doing individual dramas, entertainment shows, song compositions and overseas activities.

[NEWS] Shinhwa to release another nude photobook?

Posted: 24 May 2012 07:08 AM PDT

Shinhwa – who were the first idols to release their own nude photobook in 2001 – had a heated debate on the topic of releasing another nude photobook.

For the 'Speech Channel' episode of Shinhwa Broadcast, the debate was part of the process to decide who among the Shinhwa members is the 'God of Eloquence'. In a mission to test the debating skills of the members, the members were split into the proposition (Junjin, Dongwan, Hyesung) and the opposition (Eric, Andy, Minwoo), and had to debate on the topic "Shinhwa should release another nude photobook'.

As the rule was that whoever gets agitated will be declared the loser, the members had to keep their heart rates below 120 to be declared the winner. Caught off guard by the unexpected topic, both teams launched into a heated debate.

Kim Dongwan argued for the nude photobook, saying that "Our bodies are completely different from 13 years back." But Eric argued against the photobook, pointing to Shin Hyesung and saying, "That's not an idol's body." He went on to add, "13 years ago when we shot the photobook, there was a lot of criticism about Shin Hyesung's body."

Shin Hyesung responded resentfully, "Back then there wasn't even time to prepare and then I got kidnapped to Southeast Asia (for the shoot)."

With the discussion getting more intense, the members successively saw their heart rates rising above 120. Tune into jTBC on 26 May at 10.55pm KST to find out which member wins to become the 'God of Eloquence' on Shinhwa Broadcast.
