J.Y. Park clears up misunderstandings regarding his interview with Japanese media

Posted: 11 May 2012 08:45 AM PDT

Singer and JYP Entertainment producer J.Y. Park has cleared up the misunderstandings regarding his interview with the Japanese press.

On May 11th, J.Y. Park wrote via his official Twitter page, “It’s not true that the Wonder Girls are at the top and have no further goals to reach, therefore myself nor Wonder Girls have never thought or uttered those words. After review of the interview clip, it was revealed that the quote ‘Wonder Girls “Nobody” climbed to the top in Korea’ was mistranslated, and the article was corrected immediately.”

Please always keep in mind that it’s possible for mistranslations to occur during interviews, especially in the ones that take place overseas,” he continued. “Please also understand that it isn’t easy for us to ask the media to publish the articles only after we have reviewed them, as it can come across as discourteous.”

Ahead of his tweet, J.Y. Park held an interview with Japan’s Oricon about the Wonder Girls’ upcoming Japanese debut. One Korean media outlet incorrectly reported on May 10th that J.Y. Park stated during his interview, “Wonder Girls are at the summit, and have no higher goals to climb. We wanted to take on a bigger challenge,” which caused a small controversy amongst netizens.

With his tweet, he was trying to clear up any misunderstandings that may have risen due to the mistranslation.

Netizens who read J.Y. Park’s tweet then remarked, “I see, something just got lost in translation“, “Wonder Girls, good luck in Japan!”, and “Celebrities must have to be so careful with their words.”

Taeyeon, Jessica, and Tiffany reveal the truth behind Girls’ Generation’s weight and meal plans

Posted: 11 May 2012 07:25 AM PDT

On May 10th, Tiffany, Taeyeon, and Jessica opened up about Girls’ Generation‘s meal plans and the truth about the weights and heights listed on their profiles on KBS‘s ‘Happy Together 3‘.

The trio was asked to name a member who had a different weight than listed on her profile. The members replied honestly that Sooyoung, standing at 5’7″ (170 cm) tall, weighs at 106 pounds (48 kg), while YoonA, at 5’6″ (168 cm), weighs 48 kg as well.

Jessica and Taeyeon confessed, “Our profiles say we weigh 99 pounds (45 kg), but it’s actually give or take one or two kg.” Tiffany added, “I’m honestly at around 101 to 103.6 pounds (46 to 47 kg).”

When asked how they maintained their weight, Taeyeon replied, “We don’t go on any special diets. I think our natural diets adjusted to our promotional cycles. We also don’t take time off to exercise. We’d probably faint while running.”

On the topic of the group’s meal plans, Tiffany stated, “The meal plan that headlined in the media is only for the members who work out actively. It’s not for all of us. They’re usually only for the members who are doing extra activities like dramas to maintain a certain image. If all of us ate like that, it’d be difficult to promote at the level that we do.”

Netizens commented, “They’re all so skinny,” “Sooyoung and YoonA have daebak bodies,” and “Tiffany’s more honest than I expected.”

T-ara Boram’s younger sister Wooram to debut in D-Unit

Posted: 11 May 2012 06:55 AM PDT

Singer Jun Young Rok‘s second daughter and T-ara Boram‘s younger sister Wooram is set to debut with the group D-Unit in June.

D-Unit is a 3-member hip hop act under D-Business Entertainment, whose CEO is reported to have spent years preparing to debut the group. They follow a format of two permanent members with one new member who joins for every album. Wooram is reported to have been designated as one of the permanent members.

Another reason that D-Unit is getting a lot of attention lately is because the CEO, Lee Yong Hak, released an album in 2008 under YG Entertainment called ‘Made In R.O.K‘. He was a rapper known as DM in a duo called YMGA alongside member Master Woo. This time around, Lee Yong Hak will be producing a hip hop group instead of performing in one.

He stated, “Wooram has a different musical color than T-ara’s Boram. Wooram has excellent vocal skills and like her parents, is full of talent and punk. Though D-Unit are rookies, we’re confident enough to have them start with a full-length album for promotions,” adding, “D-Unit is planned to debut in June, and July at the latest. The music production is about 95% finished. I want to show a more complete D-Unit to the public.”

Wooram and her sister Boram are not the first in their family to be a part of the entertainment industry as their father is singer Jun Young Rok and his mother is former actress Baek Sul Hee.

Wooram’s vocal training was brought to light in March of 2010 during her mother’s (actress Lee Mi Young) appearance on SBS TV‘s ‘Bae Gi Wan, Choi Young Ah, and Jo Hyung Gi’s Good Morning‘. However, there was no report of what exactly she was preparing for at the time.

Stay tuned to allkpop for D-Unit’s debut this June.

He’ll be participating alongside co-star Jackie Chan in promotion for their film, ‘12 Chinese Zodiac Heads‘. Filming for the movie took place in China, Taiwan, and Europe. ’12 Chinese Zodiac Heads’ is reported to be special to Kwon Sang Woo in particular because he had to have stem cell surgery for his knee due to an injury he suffered during shooting for the film.

Director Heo Jin Ho is also a figure of interest as he’ll be attending the festival for his Chinese film, ‘Dangerous Liaisons‘. Considering that both Korean stars are headed to the Cannes for Chinese films, Korea’s advancement into the Chinese film industry is showing signs of being a feasible effort.

Who Wore It Better: Bae Doo Na or Seohyun?

Posted: 11 May 2012 01:10 AM PDT

Actress Bae Doo Na and Girls’ Generation‘s Seohyun were recently spotted wearing the same outfit.

The two beautiful ladies were scene in identical red floral-print dresses. Bae Doo Na sported the dress for a recent broadcast of Mnet‘s ‘Voice Korea‘. She went for a more classic and simple look, wearing the dress without any accessories. Her milky skin contrasted with the vibrant red color, bringing out her sexy vixen appeal. Seohyun on the other hand wore the dress for the ‘I Am‘ showcase. The way she styled her hair in long, loose waves and tied a black sash around her waist gave the outfit a more feminine look.

Despite wearing the same dress, both ladies were able to bring out their own individuality and give the outfit a unique spin.

Netizens commented, “The feel of the dress is definitely different, Seohyun’s style is sexier, and I thought Bae Doo Na’s dress was really see-through. Bae Doo Na’s look is more astonishing.

Bae Doona and Seohyun both looked gorgeous in their outfits, but who do you think wore it better?
