Brown Eyed Girls discuss marriage in latest interview

Posted: 21 Jul 2012 07:29 AM PDT

The Brown Eyed Girls have returned with their new digital single ‘The Original‘, marking the group’s comeback after eight months since their last release, ‘Cleansing Cream‘.

The ladies recently sat down for an interview with OSEN, and discussed dating, future marriage plans, and the promise they made to not get married until they reach 34 years of age.

They revealed, “It doesn’t seem like the right time for us to think about marriage yet. Dating is difficult for us as well.”

Narsha began by saying, “Since my late twenties, I’ve been frequently told to go on blind dates for a prospective marriage partner by my family, but I feel like dating is a must. There’s nothing wrong with what the grown ups are saying, but I’m just not too fond of arranged dates set by the families.

However, dating isn’t easy either. Maybe it’s because I’ve been thinking a lot lately, but I have become more picky regarding what’s right for me and what’s not. Though we interact with a lot of people during our promotional activities, [dating] is not easy.”

Leader JeA, who co-composed their latest title track “One Summer Night’s Dream“, commented, “I’m vicariously living through SBS‘ ‘Gentlemen’s Class‘. I even wrote a song while watching the drama. However, even when I start having feelings for somebody, it ends up not working out. Dating has become difficult as my standards for men gradually keep getting higher and higher.”

In order to compose good music, you need a lot of experience. Throughout the years, I think I’ve been living too [upright]. When I try to have fun a little, it just doesn’t suit me. Even my family still views me as a baby, so they haven’t discussed marriage with me yet.”

JeA then laughed as she added, “I told the other members that we shouldn’t get married until we turn 34 years old, but Miryo strongly opposed it.”

Lastly, Narsha shared, “When I look at my future now, I contemplate a lot about when I would get married and what I should do about our promotional activities. There is a difference between singing and acting. There are many actresses who have returned with a better image after getting married, but it’s not the same for singers. Because we are a girl group, I worry about how the public will view us if we were to get married.”

VIXX to perform at Otakon

Posted: 21 Jul 2012 06:30 AM PDT

VIXX is going to Baltimore, Maryland for Otakon!

VIXX has been confirmed as guests for this year’s Otakon, and will be performing on Friday, Jul 27th, 7:30PM at the convention. Mikako Joho, a Japanese artist, is the opening act.

For those who aren’t familiar with the group, VIXX is a six-member idol group from Mnet‘s reality show ‘Mydol‘. The current members were the top six finalists on the show voted by viewers. They joined together to form VIXX, which stands for “Voice, Visual, Value In Excelsis”. They recently debuted with the song “Super Hero” and are quickly gaining a large gathering of fans.

Though Otakon can seem an odd venue for a Korean idol group, this may be a great opportunity for VIXX to show their talents overseas. It will also be a wonderful chance for VIXX fans in the United States to come and support them.

Following the concert, VIXX is scheduled to hold an autograph session at the convention.

It’s been reported that singer Lee Hyori and boyfriend Lee Sang Soon have taken off on a romantic getaway to the Island of Palau.

The couple took a five-day four-night trip to the island with acquaintances, from June 28th to July 2nd.

Palau, an island located just south of the Philippines, is often referred to as "The garden of the gods" for the beauty of its natural environment. The two enjoyed their stay at the Pacific Resort and were reported not to be recognized by many other Korean vacationers due to their modest attire.

A local vacationer remarked, "The Lee Hyori and Lee Sang Soon couple enjoyed their dates, unaffected by other peoples' gazes. They sparked a lot of talk between Korean visitors. The two decided to travel before the peak vacation season in order to avoid interference from others."

B2ST and Psy discuss going head-to-head on music charts

Posted: 21 Jul 2012 02:30 AM PDT

At the press conference for their fifth mini-album ‘Midnight Sun‘ on the 20th, B2ST revealed that they have been enjoying Psy‘s newest tracks from ‘Gangnam Style‘.

Kikwang expressed, “We’ve been enjoying listening to Psy hyung’s songs. They’re really great. However, we are confident in our music as well.”

B2ST went up against Psy on July 15th, the release of Psy’s album and the group’s pre-release track, “Midnight“. ‘Gangnam Style’ came out on top on digital charts while “Midnight” followed closely behind.

Psy commented, “I was surprised myself because I hadn’t expected it. Since it is just a pre-release track, I don’t think it’s fair to call it a full-on battle.”

B2ST’s title track is scheduled for release on the morning of July 22nd, when they’ll be stepping away from their clean image for a more rebellious feel with “Beautiful Night”.

Yoseob stated, “I wanted to put what we learned from our world tour into the album. I learned how to have fun on stage. I feel that there haven’t been many opportunities for us to truly communicate with our fans on stage so far, as our performances have focused more on getting our choreography synchronized or shouting energetically on our own. We lacked communication with the audience, so that’s what [we] wanted to focus on this time. [We] want to show that we, too, are free-spirited men who know what being cool is.”

As of the 21st KST, Psy is leading on major digital charts like Melon and Mnet.
