'Shine' takes a genre form of hybrid music. Dream-like intro. The synthesizer that is reminiscent of synth pop. This with an electronic beat and rock-style drive guitar. And Kim Sunggyu's sexy and delicate vocal control come together to show various musical appeals and give joy to the public at once.

Instead of his name Sunggyu as an Infinite member, he will be using his birth name Kim Sunggyu.

SHINee who is bursting with popularity, releasing a ballad as their new single

Posted: 08 Nov 2012 07:00 AM PST

The group SHINee who managed to get in the top 3 ranking of the Oricon chart for 5 continuous releases ever since their debut, will be releasing a new single "For 1000 years, always be by my side..." on 12 December with presales available throughout the whole world. SHINee, who debuted in Korea in May 2008, is a 5 member group of Onew, Jonghyun, Key, Minho and Taemin. In June 2011 they debuted in Japan with single "Replay - you're my everything -" and gained the title of "The artist who managed to get in top 3 for 3 continuous releases since debut" for the foreign artist category. Such an achievement had never been gained by anyone else ever since the single ranking chart was established 44 years ago in January 1968, proving their bursting popularity.

Their previous release, "Dazzling Girl," was their first Japanese original and set the record of over 100,000 sales in the first week as they sat in the second place of the Oricon single ranking. That is enough to gain much attention towards this coming release.

This time they'll release another complete Japanese original single. This is also the first time for SHINee to promote a ballad song. The song is about the pain of not being able to convey ones feelings even after thousands of years, and how extreme a man would become. It is a song which is sung in beautiful harmony. Furthermore, the music video is a very fine work. The script was done with the musical piece as the theme. As the story developed, it was produced to be like a short film.

The coupling song is "The world where you exist". It is a refreshing rap ballad which is expected to fit being listened to in the wintertime.

Also, their first arena tour, "SHINee THE FIRST JAPAN ARENA TOUR 'SHINee WORLD' 2012'", included 20 concerts held between April to July across 7 cities throughout Japan. The tour managed to gather about 200,000 audience members, and will be released as a live DVD & Blu-ray on the same day. Next to the live concert itself, concert rehearsal and back stage coverage clips will also be included as bonus movies, which are must-see videos for fans.

The new single is a release that will no doubt become a hot topic. Surely SHINee will be gaining even more attention from now on.

Psy to release global debut album in March

Posted: 08 Nov 2012 05:00 AM PST

Humble as ever, Psy downplayed his role in drawing massive global attention to his song "Gangnam Style" while in Paris earlier this week, and said the real challenge will be the next album.

"I can't say I accomplished success, because it's kind of a phenomenon. I didn't do much -- people just browsed YouTube, found this music video and shared it," he said during a press conference in the French capital on Tuesday (local time) after performing his signature horse-riding dance at the Trocadéro in front of the Eiffel Tower.

"Now it's my time to truly show myself as a singer," he added, while announcing his plan to release a new album around March – with half of the songs in English and half in Korean.

Calling it his "global debut album," Psy said it will comprise songs from his previous Korean albums along with some new additions.

The press conference was attended by reporters from major press outlets in France. Psy shared a number of stories including how he became a singer in the first place.

"In the music video for 'Gangnam Style,' I tried to be as funny as possible, but I want to show other sides of myself later on if I have a chance," he added.

Asked how he feels about other K-pop singers, he said, "Many K-pop stars have tried to break through in the U.S. and Europe. As my success was made possible not just by me but by those who listened and liked my song, I believe other Korean singers can enjoy the same luck. Until now, K-pop stars have been mostly skinny, but fans around the world can now see that's not always the case."

Psy flew to the U.K. on Wednesday to give a talk at Oxford University.

Meanwhile, Maroon 5's "One More Night" kept its grip on the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. "Gangnam Style" remains at No. 2. for the seventh straight week.

It seems that Gangnam Style is trailing behind even more this time as the gap between Psy's song and Maroon 5 rose from 600 points to 2000 points this week. Despite Psy's single not showing any hopes of taking the number 1 spot in the charts, he is doing well with his overseas promotions.
