Big Bang and 2NE1 make MTV Style’s list of ‘Best Band Style of 2012′

Posted: 08 Dec 2012 03:41 AM PST

Big Bang and 2NE1 have made MTV Style‘s list of the ‘Best Band Style of 2012‘.

The two YG Entertainment groups are the only Asian artists to make the list of 10, which includes One Direction, The Wanted, Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, Destiny’s Child, Fun, HAIM, and No Doubt.

MTV wrote on 2NE1:

“K-Pop had a GIGANTIC year in 2012, partly because of ‘Gangnam Style‘ and partly because the genre is CHOCK FULL of boy bands and girl groups. MTV Style has a soft spot for 2NE1 thanks to their propensity for all things bold and colorful and their enviable closeness with Jeremy Scott.”

Big Bang:

“Speaking of bold and colorful… We are OBSESSED with Big Bang. The K-Pop boy band is a five-dude unit of unbridled energy, hyper-saturated streetwear, tonsorial risk-taking, and uhh, they wear MINX NAILS SOMETIMES. *faints*”

Big Bang previously made headlines on MTV for their style. This past September, G-Dragon and T.O.P received attention for their Minx Nails. The group’s songs “Blue” and “Bad Boy” also made the spotlight.

In related news, Big Bang will be holding their ‘Alive GALAXY World Tour‘ from the 8th to the 10th in Hong Kong, while 2NE1 continues on their 7-country, 11-city ‘New Evolution‘ tour.

‘Shutup Family’ makes official name change to ‘Family’

Posted: 08 Dec 2012 12:52 AM PST

KBS’Shutup Family‘ will now be known simply as ‘Family‘.

The agency behind the sitcom, Kairos Enterprise, announced on the 7th, “The sitcom ‘Shutup Family’ has changed its title to ‘Family’. Though the title is different, you’ll still continue to support the series, right? From now on, we’ll be using ‘Family’ and reading it [in a shortened form] as well.”

The series has been under fire for its original name since the first episode was broadcast this past August. Many viewers complained about a public program using inappropriate language in its title.

In September of this year, one viewer in particular filed for a hearing to ban the title, and the next month, the Broadcast Communication Review Committee recommended a name change citing it as an “impediment to public dignity.”

The producers commented, “We’ll be making a new [start] with this title change.”

Jung Hyung Don reveals Jo Hye Ryun’s tough love during his rookie years

Posted: 07 Dec 2012 11:13 PM PST

On the December 7th broadcast of SBS‘ ‘Go Show‘, MC Jung Hyung Don opened up about being shown some tough love by comedian sunbae  Jo Hye Ryun.

Jo Hye Ryun featured as a guest and revealed that Jung Hyung Don’s attitude during his rookie years weren’t the best. When things didn’t go his way, Jung Hyung Don would often complain and grumble, which really pushed Jo Hye Ryun’s buttons one day. She revealed, “I called Jung Hyung Don over to the MBC studio boiler room. I asked why he did that.”

However, Jung Hyung Dong countered, “She didn’t say it so passively like that. Right after I went in and I’m not lying one bit, she put her hand on my neck like this”, and demonstrated how the scene unfolded on Kim Young Chul.

Jung Hyung Don shared, “I got hit two to three times. She asked me how I could act like that. She asked me if I realized just how many people are struggling because of me. Rather than thinking about how much it hurt or how scared I was, when she hit me, I suddenly came to wonder why I never thought about what she mentioned and came to my senses. I started working harder afterwards,” revealing the lesson he learned from Jo Hye Ryun.

Jo Hye Ryun explained the reason behind her scolding stating, “I saw the faces of the staff. Doing broadcast for 20 years, you learn to read faces. The staff stand there for hours. They don’t even make more money than we do. So you can’t only think about the suffering you’re going through. That’s my mindset.”

Yoon Hyung Bin’s agency denies plans of marriage between the comedian and Jung Kyung Mi

Posted: 07 Dec 2012 10:42 PM PST

However, recently, representatives of Line Entertainment have denied the news. They stated, “We have not heard of any detailed wedding plans or schedules from Yoon Hyung Bin. Since the two have been dating for a while, we believe reports of marriage have been surfacing. We’ll reveal the good news when we hear it.”

The reports of the couple’s upcoming marriage plans had come about after various accounts from broadcast industry insiders who revealed that the couple will be officially announcing their marriage through the 12th’s broadcast of ‘Gag Concert’, the show they met on 7 years ago.

However, with Line Entertainment stating they have no knowledge of such plans, it remains to be seen whether it is in fact a misreport or if the agency is trying to keep the news quiet for the actual reveal later on the 12th.

SISTAR’s Bora jogs like an ‘ahjumma’?

Posted: 07 Dec 2012 10:05 PM PST

Lee Soo Geun called SISTAR‘s Bora an ahjumma (a term reserved for older and married women).

Bora and Soyu were guests on ‘Lee Soo Geun and Kim Byung Man’s High Society‘, and were said to have been high-spirited for the entire filming period.

However, because of the slippery ground due to the rain, the MCs advised the girls to be careful. Taking the advice, Bora tried to jog as carefully as possible even with the timed mission.

Her attempts to jog carefully while trying to be fast apparently ended up looking quite comical as Lee Soo Geun couldn’t help but laugh, dubbing her jogging ‘ahjumma jogging‘. He teased, “You’re a female idol, so how can  you do this like an ahjumma!” and imitated her ‘ahjumma jogging‘, causing the entire set to laugh.

The episode with SISTAR’s Bora and Soyu will air on the 8th!
