Mir eats a piece of a monkey’s head on ‘Laws of the Jungle’

Posted: 08 Feb 2013 09:33 AM PST

The boys of MBLAQ may have debuted with “Oh Yeah” but viewers were cringing and saying “Oh No” when Mir tried eating a monkey’s brain on ‘Laws of the Jungle‘.

Mir has been eating all sorts of exotic things on the show, including caterpillars and crocodiles, and it looks like he is extending his repertoire of bizarre food.

On the February 8th episode of ‘Laws of the Jungle’, the cast of the show joined the indigenous tribe during their wedding ceremonies. The tribe offered the cast monkey meat, which was their traditional meat for celebration. Mir, as usual, had no problem eating the meat, unlike Chu Sung Hoon or Noh Woo Jin, who shuddered at the thought of eating monkey meat. Because Mir was eating the meat so well, the women of the tribe granted him a special privilege and handed him a piece of meat from the monkey’s head. Even though some other cast members balked at the thought of it, Mir took it and ate it without a problem.

During a personal interview, he explained, “The tribe member gave me the meat from the head, but a piece of the brain was on it. But I couldn’t gag or be grossed out by it because everyone else in the tribe was enjoying the meat so much.

His consideration for the tribe gained much praise from viewers, and hopefully Mir will be safe no matter what he eats throughout the rest of the episodes!

DMTN pose in hanbok and discuss their plans for the year

Posted: 08 Feb 2013 06:14 AM PST

DMTN posed together in hanbok for the Lunar New Year and discussed their plans for 2013.

Daniel shared, “This is my first time wearing a hanbok. It feels like I’ve really became a Korean person.” Jeesu also expressed his unfamiliarity with traditional Korean clothing, revealing, “I think this is my first time wearing one since kindergarten. Because we are actively promoting, we are happy and also more at peace, and since we feel relaxed on stage, we want to quickly get up there and sing.”

DMTN revealed the reason behind their name change, which many fans were curious about. They stated, “It is the abbreviation of Dalmatian and stands for ‘Desire, Motivation, Timing, and Now’. It’s not that the name has changed because we’ve used Dalmatian since a long time ago. It’s not that we let go of the name ‘Dalmatian’ either. We prefer that people say that DMTN is short for Dalmatian as well.”

On the group’s long hiatus, Daniel stated, “After entering a new agency, we made a comeback with the heart to start anew, and because we have the heart and passion, we anticipate getting on stage and only look forward to that. We only think about standing on stage all week.”

He went on, “This time we are trying to consistently promote. We don’t plan to have a comeback hiatus and kick off [our promotions]. Fortunately, we also receive a lot of love calls from overseas. We’ll be traveling overseas a lot starting in April. We’ll also focus on our domestic activities and consistently promote throughout 2013.”

Lee Kyung Kyu researched homosexuality for Hong Suk Chun special of ‘Healing Camp’?

Posted: 08 Feb 2013 03:46 AM PST

It’s been revealed that Lee Kyung Kyu researched homosexuality for the Hong Suk Chun episode of ‘Healing Camp‘.

SBS‘ general manager Lee Chang Tae, CP Choi Young In, and PD Shin Hyo Jung held a press conference for the upcoming program ‘Incarnation‘ that will be following ‘Strong Heart‘. During the press conference, Hong Suk Chun’s appearance on ‘Healing Camp’ also came up.

The general manager stated, “It was a good episode, and I realized how great of a host Lee Kyung Kyu was. On the show, it was mentioned that Lee Kyung Kyu was against Hong Suk Chun’s appearance on the show, but in reality, he was very strongly against it. There were aspects he just could not accept because of his own values, and he worried that he would have to needlessly bring up Hong Suk Chun’s painful memories.

However, Lee Kyung Kyu was eventually convinced that the show ‘Healing Camp’ must be able to handle all kind of subjects to preserve its integrity. The general manager revealed, “He then read and studied [the topic] so he could understand Hong Suk Chun, and he was able to expertly use [the knowledge] for the broadcast. It was a moment I realized Lee Kyung Kyu’s talent.

As Korea’s first celebrity to come out, Hong Suk Chun has gained both negative and positive attention. For a while, he wasn’t able to appear on variety shows, but he’s been guesting on programs again in recent years. His appearances on shows such as ‘Radio Star‘ and ‘Healing Camp’ were praised widely.

However, it isn’t just Hong Suk Chun’s bravery that was praised. Once netizens found out how hard Lee Kyung Kyu worked for the episode, they commented, “This is why he is at the top after all these years“, “Even though his values weren’t the same, he worked hard to understand Hong Suk Chun. That is amazing“, and “I love this about Lee Kyung Kyu. I hope I can see him on TV for a long, long time.
