Rainbow see KARA as their destined rivals

Posted: 14 Mar 2013 07:13 AM PDT

Rainbow, who finally made their long-awaited comeback with “Tell Me Tell Me“, opened up about returning to the K-pop scene after almost two years.

Hyunyoung shared, “Since we’re promoting after a long hiatus, even in our fast-paced and busy lifestyle, our bodies are tired, but we don’t think we’re tired. Whatever our schedule, we are able to enjoy it, so it’s really good.”

Jisook“Our hiatus was not in vain. I feel grateful for every single stage and broadcast. During that time, we worked a lot on our own hobbies and maintained our personal matters. Because I was more free, I became more open-minded. This song concept also fits best with our personalities, and we are able to enjoy it more on stage.”

No Eul“When we saw other artists who debuted at the same time as us as well as hoobaes promoting, we were jealous and depressed at times. But preparing for our comeback, we were happy just to practice. Right now, we enjoy whatever we’re doing and are happy. We are just happy that all seven of us can stand on stage together.”

Jaekyung“Ever since I was little, my parents always told me, ‘The biggest happiness is enjoying the work that you want to do most.’ But before, I couldn’t enjoy my activities. From the pressure as the leader to make the team known, I would think over what I would say and how to act a hundred times and gave [cookie-cutter] answers. I think I worked too hard to entertain. I was able to think above these thoughts during the hiatus. Now I don’t filter my words so much.”

Woori“I featured in a lot of sitcoms and variety shows, but looking at my lifestyle, I felt like I was becoming more of a TV personality. I would worry so much about everything I said. Now I think I’ve returned to my original job, so I feel good.”

When the question, “What does KARA mean to Rainbow?” came up, Seung Ah commented, “They’re our friends and competitors who we have a lot to learn from,” while Jaekyung added, “KARA are our destined rivals and role models. They’re sunbaes who raised our standard of success to be on the level of KARA. We can learn from KARA’s success, and it raised our standard for where we should be.”

When asked what they want to show for their comeback, Yoonhye said, “I want to hear people say, ‘Rainbow also has this kind of charm?’ There are still a lot of charms that we haven’t shown yet. Our members each have individual colors and personalities, and we want to show more sides to us.”

Jaekyung stated, “More than the determination to make ‘Tell Me Tell Me’ #1, we want to showcase Rainbow’s music, color, and voices. We hope to find opportunities to highlight our individual strengths. We want to be known as singers and entertainers who receive love in various fields and an approachable group that enjoys life.”
