Psy brought “Gangnam Style” and “Gentleman” onto the May 3rd episode of the ‘Today Show‘!

He was at the Rockefeller Center in New York City to appear on NBC‘s ‘Today Show’, performing both of his hit songs. The hosts of the show and the audience followed not only his famous horse dance, but also his new “Gentleman” dance. Host Matt Lauer, who has a very calm image, even danced along with “Gentleman”, surprising everyone. He confessed that he’d only slept 45 minutes because he’d been so nervous about the dance.

During the interview, Psy shouted, “Hooray for Korea!” and even teared up slightly for appearing on the famous America show for the 2nd time. On his Twitter, he wrote, “#ExcuseMe I get touched and proud when I think that I’m going to be performing 2 Korean songs that I wrote myself on American television. I can’t get used to it no matter how I try. Heh. The first performance of ‘Gentleman’ in 8 hours, hehehe. It might not be cool, but I’m going to make it cool!!! #PsyTODAY“.

A Cube Entertainment and Yookyung’s father give conflicting reports on Yookyung’s departure from A-Pink

Posted: 03 May 2013 08:33 AM PDT

Yookyung‘s label A Cube Entertainment spoke up to state that Yookyung’s departure from A-Pink was agreed upon.

Yookyung’s father had revealed that Yookyung’s leaving was a one-way notification and that they’d only heard about it a short time ago. But when A Cube Entertainment maintained their stance that the reason behind her departure was true, Yookyung’s father spoke up again and said, “Please stop giving false information to media. I have no choice but to respond.

A week later on May 2nd, he said, “As you can see from the recent Korean Air attendant situation* or the Lotte Hotel situation*, it is no longer acceptable for you to use people’s rights in any way you want just because you are in power. Our society has matured so much in recent years.

A day later on May 3rd, he added, “I have requested her label to issue an honest apology to fans and to return Yookyung to her post. Fans, please help her.

In a phone call with media outlet Sports Donga, A Cube Entertainment replied, “We’ve been having many discussions about Yookyung’s departure with her parents since March. We have an agreement written in place with her parents on her departure, and she left with that agreement. We cannot reveal the contents of the agreement, but we would never make her leave without agreement.

Reference: (*) = Korean Air attendant situation is referring to when a company executive made numerous complaints to a stewardess in Business class of a Korean Airline flight. After the complaints, he hit the stewardess several times with a magazine. When he landed in the United States, the FBI was informed of this and gave him the option of 1) Returning to Korea without being arrested or 2) Being investigated for Terrorism (violence on a flight). Netizens left many negative comments at this company executive for his abhorrent behavior.

(*) = Lotte Hotel situation is referring to when a Chairman of a Bakery parked in the “No Parking” zone of a Lotte Hotel. The doorman of the Hotel politely asked this man to park elsewhere as that is a no parking zone, however, the man turned violent and hit the doorman with his wallet. After the news blew up, the bakery had to close down and numerous meme-like comics were made of this situation.

More details about how Jung Bum Kyun saved a man from suicide revealed

Posted: 03 May 2013 05:29 AM PDT

More details about how comedian Jung Bum Kyun saved a man from committing suicide have been revealed.

SBS‘ ‘One Night of TV Entertainment‘ contacted the fire department, who commented, “It’s the case from last Sunday. We were called out because citizens reported that they were keeping someone from committing suicide. It was on the north side of the Mapo-Daegu Bridge.

CCTV shows that the man was standing on the edge of the bridge. Jung Bum Kyun was passing by on his bicycle, and had helped the others pull him back. The fire department said, “Jung Bum Kyun held him from the back in a hug and waited there until we arrived.

The first woman who reported the incident revealed, “Since I was’t strong enough, I stopped the first man passing by, and it was Jung Bum Kyun. He calmed the man down by saying, ‘What’s troubling you so much?’

KBS News also reported that the man was drunk. They interviewed Jung Bum Kyun, who said, “He was in a more dangerous situation than I was. I was only thinking of him, so I didn’t realize [how dangerous it could have been].” They reported that Jung Bum Kyun had held the man for 5 minutes before the fire department arrived. He added modestly, “Even if it wasn’t me there, someone else would have done it. It’s something obvious that should have been done.

Thank goodness Jung Bum Kyun was there.

‘Asia’s Star’ BoA to return to Japan

Posted: 03 May 2013 05:00 AM PDT

Get ready, Japan, because BoA is headed your way!

BoA will be returning to Japanese promotions with a new single that’s set to release in June. She did release “Only One” in Japan in February, but this will be her first original Japanese song since December of 2011.

Because she’s been active in Korea, especially with ‘K-Pop Star‘, she hasn’t had time to promote in Japan. While she was absent, her hoobaes KARA and Girls’ Generation made large strides in the neighboring country. However, BoA’s star factor in Japan is nothing to laugh at, so much so that she’s gained the nickname ‘Asia’s Star’ there. All of her records have swept #1 on Oricon charts, so it’s likely her upcoming release will also be a hit.

Are you looking forward to her Japanese activities?

The May 1st broadcast of SBS‘ ’One Night of TV Entertainment‘ showed what happened at Dodgers Stadium that night. Psy brought laughter when he shared his concern, saying, “Ryu Hyun Jin is famous and I’m famous, so I worried that people would wonder if all Koreans have the same body as us.”

He went on to say, “I think we have a unique body type for Koreans. But to be honest, I like my body.”

Psy was in the stands to watch the Dodgers take on the Colorado Rockies. He also got up from his seat and danced to his newest song “Gentleman“.

miss A’s Suzy takes a well-deserved break

Posted: 03 May 2013 01:41 AM PDT

Between filming her drama ‘Book of the House of Gu‘ and her multiple endorsements, miss A‘s Suzy rarely has time to catch a break.

She took a short break during what seems to be action training for her drama, and she tweeted, “Taking a little break (:( [sic]“. Because the character in ‘Book of the House of Gu’ is a martial arts master and swordwielder, Suzy has to train hard to keep up with her character Dam Yuh Wool. She’d revealed before that she took her sword around everywhere to get close to it, and that she took her training very seriously.

Hopefully, once the drama ends Suzy can take some time to catch her breath!
