Crayon Pop signs partnership with Sony Music Entertainment Korea

Rookie group Crayon Pop, who swept up the music scene with viral hit "Bar Bar Bar", are aiming to expand their career to global music market.

The group's agency Chrome Entertainment signed a contract for album license and strategic partnership with international record company Sony Music Entertainment Korea for Crayon Pop's domestic and overseas activities.

On August 13, Sony Music announced, "Sony Music Entertainment officials met with Crayon Pop during their visit to Korea and they were impressed by their different concept and creativity. The contract was signed with a belief that they would get good responds from overseas countries."

CEO Hwang Hyun Chang of Chrome Entertainment stated, "We believe our collaboration with the global album label Sony Music is a great opportunity for Crayon Pop's growth."

Yoon Eun Hye and Lee Dong Gun may team up with Yonghwa in KBS ‘Future Choice’

Actress Yoon Eun Hye and actor Lee Dong Gun may come back to the small screen in the upcoming KBS drama, 'Future Choice', the one CNBLUE's Jung Yonghwa is considering.

According to their respective agencies, yhe two actors are currently eyeing their roles in a new melodrama 'Future Choice', the follow-up series to Joo Won's medical drama 'Good Doctor'.

If confirmed, Yoon Eun Hye will be playing a broadcast program writer named Na Mi Rae, who came from the future while Lee Dong Gun will be playing the role of a TV announcer named Kim Shin.

Yonghwa has also been offered a role in the drama and is still considering his appearance in the drama.

'Future Choice' will premiere following 'Good Doctor' this October.

Actress Ha Ji Won became the first Korean artist to sign a contract with one of the largest talent agencies in Hollywood, United Talent Agency (UTA).

United Talent Agency is known as the agency home to big names such as Johnny Depp, Harrison Ford, Anthony Hopkins, Ewan McGregor, Nicholas Hoult, Gwyneth Paltrow, Celine Dion, Channing Tatum and James McAvoy.

Ha Ji Won's agency commented, "Ha Ji Won became the first actress in Korea to sign a contract with one of America's biggest agencies, UTA. This will be a great step for the actress to have a chance to expand her career to Hollywood."

FT Island’s Lee Hongki to perform with legendary rock band Sinawe

FT Island's frontman Lee Hongki will be collaborating with legendary Korean rock band Sinawe.

The 'DMZ Peace Concert: K-ROCK in Harmony' will be held on August 14 at Korea's Imjingak Pyeonghoa Nuri Park to celebrate Korea's Independence Day and the 60th anniversary since the establishment of DMZ in 1953.

During the concert, Lee Hongki will join Sinawe on stage to perform together the rock band's hit track "Turn up the Radio". FT Island will also perform their songs "I Hope" and "I Wish."

Also, Lee Hongki will be the MC of the concert alongside After School's UEE. Other artists who will also perform includes B2ST, A Pink, Sweet Sorrow, Daybreak, YB and Deli Spice. The concert will be broadcast in MBC on August 15.

Big Bang to air special world tour documentary on jTBC

Cable channel jTBC will be airing a special documentary covering Big Bang's first world tour.

Titled 'Big Bang, Sing Towards the World - Alive Tour', the documentary will be aired through jTBC on August 17 at 11PM (KST). It will feature the group's successful world tour 'BIG BANG ALIVE TOUR 2012' which was recorded throughout the year in 24 different cities in 12 countries.

The documentary will feature all the preparations as well as an interview with the members who disclosed their honest and serious thoughts before the world tour. It will also include five Big Bang members' happy moments on stage and off stage.

Big Bang started its global tour in Seoul last year in March, and then travelled to the America and Europe to meet with about 800,000 fans.

EXO to sing National Anthem at the Korea-Peru soccer match

EXO will sing Korea's National Anthem at the soccer match between Korea and Peru.

On August 14, Korea will be having a friendly match against Peru at the Suwon World Cup Arena to celebrate the 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. EXO will be singing the Korean national anthem while Oscar Pajares will sing the national anthem of Peru.

The group will also perform during the half-time of the match.

EXO members stated, "It's an honor to sing the national anthem and perform at a soccer game for the Korean national team."

f(x)’s Sulli to star as a pirate in new movie

f(x)'s Sulli will transform into a perky pirate in the upcoming film, 'Pirates'.

SM Entertainment confirmed that Sulli has been cast in new adventure film 'Pirates' and will work with actress Son Ye Jin and actor Kim Nam Gil.

The movie is about a group of female pirates and male bandits on the hunt during the Joseon Dynasty for a whale that swallowed a valuable treasure. Sulli will be playing the character Heuk Myo, which means a black cat, who is a member of Yeo Wol's (Son Ye Jin) pirate group. She plans to show bouncy and live personality of her character.

The film will be directed by Lee Seok Hoon, who also worked on the hit 2012 comedy 'Dancing Queen'.

Roy Kim leaving to America to enter college

Singer Roy Kim will wrap up promotional activities for his first album and fly to the United States to continue his education.

Roy Kim, who was originally set to enter Georgetown University last September, has took two semesters off to participate in 'Superstar K4' and to focus on his music career. He was planning on taking another leave of absence but Georgetown University notified that they cannot permit extension anymore

The singer will now be withdrawing from MBC FM4U 'Roy Kim & Jeong Jun Young's Close Friend' after August 18th, and will be leaving to the United States on the 25th.

Roy Kim said, "I'll put my best effort to be more mature person with my new university life and more study on music. I'd also like to express particular thanks for my fans."

Big Bang’s Seungri once thought of quitting music + unveils second teaser image

Big Bang's Seungri, who is gearing up for a solo comeback, confessed that he once lost his will to pursue his career in music.

Just one week prior to his second mini-album release on August 19, Seungri posted a heartfelt message on his Facebook page, reflecting on his past. He wrote, "I had once lost courage for music. I was so overwhelmed by the talented older members of the team that I wanted to do something else other than music."

He revealed that a conversation a year ago with Yang Hyun Suk changed his thinking and returned his focus to music. "We had a conversation that would instantly reverse my wrong mental attitude. He took on a guy like me to YG and I got to be a member of group Big Bang. He made me into a decent person and had great expectations from me."

As a result, Seungri worked hard and has been able to make better music. With his upcoming solo comeback, he revealed that he "participated in the composing and writing the lyrics of all the songs, but in the end, this is Big Bang's music", adding that he was greatly influenced by fellow member G-Dragon for the past 8 years.

Seungri concluded, "This album will make up for all my mistakes that I have made. For my hardworking staff, for my team, for my loving fans, and for myself."

Taeyeon, Sunny and Tiffany talk about upcoming album in ‘Danny from LA’

During the interview, the three members discussed about Taeyeon's rendition of the Korean national anthem, Sunny and Tiffany's opening pitch, and the most athletic members in their group.

When asked about Girls' Generation's future plans, Tiffany mentioned that a Girls' Generation album is possibly to be released this fall or winter, adding that the group is currently busy with their ongoing world tour right now.

HISTORY unveils new teaser image for ‘Just Now’ comeback

Joining the comeback battle, Loen Entertainment's rookie group HISTORY released new teaser image for upcoming first mini album, 'Just Now'.

On August 13, HISTORY's official Twitter page posted, "#HISTORY 1st Mini Album [JUST NOW] New Teaser Image", and treated fans to a teaser image of the group showing the members in hip hop-ish outfits and charismatic poses.

The group, who debuted with "Dreamer" in April, will be coming back on August 20th with first mini album, 'JUST NOW'. The title track will be "Tropical Night" which is co-produced by V.O.S' Choi Hyun Joon and composer Lim Kwang Wook.
